Champion Hurdle 2027

You could say the Narciso juvenile form was tested by Mange Tout yesterday. She ran very well but was still getting 8lbs from Alexei who was easily put in his place by Lossy. We all know nothing will beat her if she turns up in anything like last year's form. She's the main reason nearly everything has gone chasing..
Narciso Has was giving 7lb to all the mares he raced against last season.
If you ignore his first start for Willie, which many would.
He beat both mares easily at the Dublin festival, at least as easy as Alexei did yesterday.

Re MDP. He clearly wanted him to go chasing but the owner won which is refreshing although most likely the wrong decision. Perhaps Dan will get him beat first time up and then they'll have a rethink.
Don't think it would have suited Dan for Paddy to go chasing.

Still not enough to beat the Mare though. He'd be battling for places along with the rest. Willie will try his hardest to get him over a fence.

Did Dan say where they go with MDP next?
Don't think so.

He was still an intended runner at this point and he was banging on about going against experienced horses in championship races and he'd not be disappointed if he got beat by "one" in a very poor grade 2 on Saturday.
He must have seen the opposition :ROFLMAO:
He was basically prepping for a defeat to Alexei.
Just sounded very much expectation managing and not the words of a confident man who has seen decent stuff at home on the gallops.

Aye, you'd think Dan would want to split his best horses.

Paddy Champion Hurdle
Kabral Arkle
The New Lion Stayers

I reckon that's what he'd have liked to do, and I'd say he's be right to, but JP had other ideas.
100% this...imo

If you think she was at the races that day, then sorry to put it bluntly but you're just wrong.

Lump Sum ain't getting her out of her comfort zone
Its why they put cheekpieces on her as they were worried about her through the first few furlongs in a strongly run Champion Hurdle mullins even admitted that. She lost that Christmas Hurdle at the start. Game of opinions

Ehh

They put the cheekpieces on her the season after 😂

I don't think Cheekpieces are ever applied to get horses to be quicker in the early part of races.

But it is a game of opinions as you say.
I thought the jockey was as dozy as the horse in the christmas hurdle and both were flat footed at the start and a couple of airy jumps early on just added to that, and she was eventually beaten by one of the best we've ever seen on his last decent performance.

PS,
I also think the cheekpieces talk was bullshit and more of a deflection for Mullins and Townend for saying or hinting via previous decisions and comments that she was not good enough to win a Champion hurdle.
Certainly makes them look better by saying they added the cheekpieces that made all the difference. Geniuses !
IMO - She'd have won like that with Knickers on, never mind cheekpieces.

And I spoke to Lossie and she said she preferred the black leather ones. ;)

I know. They put cheekpieces on her cos of tendency to lack concentration in the early part of strongly run 2m races. Happened in Christmas Hurdle and Irish Champion Hurdle before festival win.

But waited 6 runs after the Xmas hdle to do so?

Don't buy that was the reason for her in the Xmas hdle - just think she ran below par, one of very few days in her career she didn't perform

'Mullins admitted concerns pre-race about Lossiemouth's tendency to idle early in races, adding cheekpieces to sharpen her up in what he expected to be a fiercely run renewal from the tape.'

Townend said the same. If you think they are bullshittin then fair enough thats your opinion. You can see from the Christmas Hurdle and Irish Champion Hurdle why they went with them so i tend to believe them. Anyway CH was ran at a doodle so it never mattered.
