Faugheen 2/1 for the Morgiana now, it's the brother showdown!

Despite Faugheen's poor showing in the Champion Hurdle last season he will no doubt be absolutely primed for this as I suspect he'll be up in trip after the race. This is when he is at his best IMO, fresh. Samcro has it all to do now, and can see him beat.

Is Supersundae not the bet at 8-10/1 in that race?

Has wins over them both (in pretty different circumstances) but shouldn’t be anywhere near that big if you think he turns up, which I do

He's been out with injury since punchestown and had surgery to remove a growth in his groin the size of an orange which caused an inflamation and soreness behind so they had to put him away.
Id be shocked if he was "ABSOLUTELY PRIMED" for this over 2 on his return in November over a trip where he can't sustain the pace any more

Personally wouldn't call having a growth removed as out injured. Won't have taken too long to get over it.

However, his ATR quote does suggest he'll need the run, and i very much doubt he will be 100% primed for this compared to Samcro who has had a pipe-opener.

"He’s been back in for quite a while, but I have to say he is quite heavy at the moment, so it might take him a run or two to reach full fitness."

Very hard race to bet in i think- as Tombstone is likely to set a gallop if he runs i presume, which in theory should suit them all, perhaps minus Faugheen who these days might want to dictate things himself.

Yeah, I am aware of this, he still dotted up at Punchestown with this hinderance, albeit over 3m.

His record when fresh is fantastic, his only real defeat coming at the hands of stablemate Nichols Canyon.

Now, I'm not saying he'll go and win a champion hurdle in March, and I agree about his lack of pace now, but when fresh will be when he is at his most dangerous IMO, and I wouldn't want to let him get his own way up front.

I hope Faugheen beats Samcro :devilish:

Heart rules the Head in November :highly_amused:

A peak Faugheen would beat any hurdler in the last 15 years imo. I'm not sure he still has it in the tank but I hope he does.

Agree.

Don't think they'd be so forward to take the Champion Hurdle route if Faugheen was in peak health myself. They must view it as there for taking with Samcro, given the current opposition.

Been looking at another potential runner in Summerville Boy, and decided he has no chance if the ground comes up any better than heavy. His defeats have all been on better than heavy, he gets outpaced and his jumping is put under even more pressure. He can't win.

If Faugheen were to beast it in the Morgiana then I imagine he would go straight to Cheltenham. Don't see it myself but how great for the sport would it be if he did

If faugheen randomly bolted up here. Do you take the quick 33s CH? He's no chance in that any more but he'll prob go a silly price on heart alone.
hes also just as likely to come back lame before you've had the chance to wait until you can cash it.
As I don't believe cash out would reflect the price he'd be cut into at this stage.

Ie whats cash out on laurina now
If you've backed her at 14s ?

Head scratcher.

Interesting one that Scooby.

I have Laurina at 12's...cash out is £14.45 from a tenner.

I doubt they'd go straight there myself- perhaps one or two runs in between.

All Cheltenham wins have come off the back of having not raced post xmas. As 10 going on 11 i'd be fairly certain they will want to keep him as fresh as possible. Maybe Irish Champion Hurdle if he runs well Sunday, doubt he'd do much else between now and festival.

I'd agree. His record when fresh is incredible, which is why I think he will cause Samcro a problem on Sunday.

I see Samcro as being worked up towards the Champion Hurdle, so still not necessarily 100% on Sunday, however I do expect a better run than LTO, but against a fresh Faugheen, well, you're asking a lot, IMO.

Good example here.
Stormy Ireland is no champion hurdle horse she's rated 141. But watch how she smashes up lackeneen leader tomorrow.

That's the step up that laurina faces.

Loved Stormy Ireland last season, although her running style made it extremely difficult to prove her ability in that ground at the festival last season but think she is a very good horse herself, who would have won the same race Laurina did had she contested that.

You think she would of beaten Laurina?!

Sorry, I meant in replacement of Laurina, as under same ownership.

All her races bar chelt, she'd Destroy them and hose up from the front.

The one at chelt is an awkward one as she's a front runner and they used cut the mustard as spoiling tactics on Maria's benefit. So she could have got lit up herself. But they obviously wouldn't have sent out cut the mustard so hard.

This race tomorrow with good thyne Tara in it is better than anything laurina has ran in over there. Lackeneen leader will get absolutely smashed tomorrow and she finished 2nd to laurina as 2nd fav.
