Haha, I know, I think I remember you arguing the case at the time that you won't back Top Notch if he won that race - just checked and the original race was abandoned - I can't remember whether you still didn't fancy him when it was re-run at a different track or not though.... but you were against him all season, regardless of the Peterborough stat.

Hi Kev,
"not top notch" did win the Peterborough, but not at Huntingdon. Yes I was against the horse all season, and that proved to be fruitful. He wasn't good enough for the festival. I'll be against whoever wins the Peterborough this season as a pointer for the Ryanair chase..

Not really "proof" if he didn't run, but I Doubt he'd have beaten the Irish horses anyway.

Whoever wins the Peterborough is unlikely to be trained by Mullins so I may not fancy him either... will look forward to us having the same arguement again when it coems around doc :p

Shame Saldier fell then, I know some people were interested in him for the CH

If the cap fits ran well enough. He dosent jump quick enough to win a CH.

If you were looking for positives, you could say it's not a bad run first time out and he has a better chance than We Have A Dream does....

but realistically, the Elite Hurdle hoodoo is not in any doubt! :disgust:

Bit strange that a few firms have cut If The Cap fits

William Hill even go 20/1

First run since boxing day.... you can see perhaps why he;'d improve but I agree it's very harsh to cut him... (I suppose they've over rated WHAD and are reacting to that?)

You can see it in a way, the way he eventually finished the race caught they eye and he ran pretty raw with promise of improvement. But the CH is a monstrous step up in competition from verdana blue. I'd have to write him off for ths race after that. But there will be plenty of other races

Oh well, didn't see any champion hurdle winners today

He hasn't been cut in price cos he was eyecatching. IMO
They (the bookies) are surely just protecting from each way monies, in a race that looks potentially light in numbers, with a horse that beat WHAD and is still intent on coming here. They have to be wary of the race cutting up through injuries etc.

You can also say that having missed the back of the season last year - ITCF missed at least 1 if not 2 Spring festival runs that would have been absolutely massive educationally . He still looked very 'novicey' today. But it's very very hard to see him stepping up to the required standard between now and March. I think his price shortening is really just the market switching the positions of WHAD really rather than thinking he enhanced his claims

Also echo the shouts the promise of ITCF's over fences. Would very much like to see WHAD over a fence next year too

What do we have left to come out and play now?

Summerville Boy (cut to 10s today by Slybet?)

Last years 1 and 2 in Buveur D'air and Melon

Then Laurina and Supasundae in Ireland... both have potential other engagements at the festival?

Is the 33/1 about that bad each way for If The Cap Fits with 365 (cashout available to react to his next run?)

Next Sunday is the Morgiana so we'll have Samcro vs Melon vs Supasundae

2 weeks later on Saturday 1st will be the Fighting Fifth which will have Buveur D'Air vs Summerville Boy

That looks to be pretty much it? So we'll have seen what appears to be the main players in 3 weeks time bar Laurina who I think will be kept away from the big races early on

Think I posted about him in the first few pages in the thread but Supasundae has been confirmed by Harrington that he'll have a CH campaign this year. If I was to back a horse EW right now - I'd rather be taking 20/1 EW with him than 33/1 EW ITCF's

Hard to believe Noel would get off Summerville Boy for ITCF.

I wouldn't take 20s about a horse I wasn't confident of the trip on but he has certainly shown better form.

Laurina being aimed at the Ascot Hurdle I think in a couple of weeks time.

Be surprised if Nicky H don't put one up against her as a sighter. Maybe WHAD as he mentioned stepping up in trip after todays race.
