Champion Hurdle 2018

I just can't take any positives from the Faugheen "updates". That is just no news to me...

He isn't doing any work yet... I don't think I'll be miles off the mark to say prior to the Irish CH he "isn't sparking" or "not completely happy with him" .... "we'll see how he is before Cheltenham"....

and then it'll probably be the same again.

Hypothetical one for you..... Faugheen ruled out for the season prior to Dublin Festival.... Yorkhill wins over 2m1f with Min 1L behind in 2nd....

Where does Yorkhill go? - I'd say here!

Faugheen wins the Irish champion. Don't worry. :)

Has no reason to miss that or CH. It's his last chance to retain his crown . It's not like they can put him away and bring him back next year realistically. And ofcourse hes a gelding so theres nothing to lose.
I can picture the "impossible dream" ala sprinter sacre feature before the champion hurdle already.

I'm much more inclined to think he's more Annie Power than Sprinter Sacre....

On that, I'm getting tempted by Yorkhill at 11/4 NRNB without BVD....

He wouldn't be 11/4 on the day....

Yorkhill has done nothing what so ever in hurdles over 2m. Oo seven in the tolworth. Le prezien at Aintree when he was far too keen. . Hes beat yanworth over 2 1/2 and over fences he has more pace than top notch, disko. Road to respect. I considered him at 28.0 earlier but I turned it down. If he can't win that 2m chase he can't win a CH. He jumps fences well. Arguably better than a hurdle. His CH price nrnb is actually pretty ridiculous to me.

BVD coming 3rd in the Supreme isn't exactly miles ahead of Yorkhill winning the Neptune though...

I think he'd only turn up if Faugheen wasn't a runner, and he'd be the clear 2nd fav... ahead of Melon - and he's clearly a superior horse to Melon, even over hurdles so far.

I thought Mullins confirmed he stayed over fences today?

Buveur dair won the better race at the same Aintree festival. He wasn't put into the supreme by Noel.

I can't have yorkhill, i dont rate melon much either tbh. But on paper yorkhills done no more than melon in 2m hurdles.

If he can't win that 2m chase how can he win the CH?? His jumping of a fence I don't see as an issue at all.

I just don't see how mullins could say on the day he's been beat by ball d'arc/ ordinary world etc there ... so were going to switch back to hurdles with a live chance in the CH.

And if he does win he's going qmcc, tiny chance jlt

Yeah he did.... he also said he's always thought he was a Champion Hurdle horse!

It is 11/4 NRNB without BVD - I think he;'d be shorter than 11/4 on the day, I really do.

I know you cant always listen to him, but I really think he stays chasing. But agree with Scooby anyway, no worthwhile form over 2m, especially not in the context of a CH. Not for me anyway.

You can't rule a horse out on something it hasn't attempted much though..... he's only run over 2m twice - won one, flopped in the other....

He's shown enough ability in his other races, trip/fences to make it impossible to say he hasn't got the abilioty to finish in and around MTOY or TNO or Melon.... or any of the other no hopers in the CH field

Well I'll just get my money back when he doesn't run then :p

Haven't even backed it... just want to now out of spite :highly_amused:

I think he would also. But the revised price wouldn't reflect his chances.

I think he would also. But that dosent reflect his chances.

:encouragement: True enough

That is something I'd consider much closer to the race though and act accordingly.

I'm not going to do it, MTOY at 13/2 still appeals more.

He will finish around them . I just don't thing he would win with BD in the field. You are correct though the 11/4 without . And without faugheen in the race would be a decent price.

I've just seen 365 have priced Samcro up for this @ 12's NRNB. Does anyone think there is the slightest possibility he will end up here?

Potentially going for the Irish Champion Hurdle on 3rd Feb, if he does go and WINS, surely they will have a serious think about re-directing him for the Champion Hurdle?

No chance
But with nrnb you have nothing to lose.

Min gets a champion hurdle entry.
Obviously only in case faugheen dosent make it.
Got him well covered if he did end up here. But I'd rather him in the qmcc

Wrong thread i know Scooby but how do you see UDS/MIN/YORKHILL split up? Which Races?

Honestly don't know with any conviction.

*********
Or I think I do know tbh but it goes against some big prices I took a few months ago on yorkhill Ryanair.

Qmcc yorkhill
Qmcc min
Uds ryaniar

If faugheen dosent fire and yorkhill does. It could mean min CH
