Champion Chase 2018

My notes mention something along the lines of “Yorkhills is a right nightmare, needs Ruby on board”

From what I recall, Townsend has been on Yorkhill twice, the one I can remember is the race at aintree - Townsend couldn’t get him to settle behind the pack. Then again, Ruby has had his fair share

2 miles this weekend should suit, as jockey doesn’t have to think about getting the trip
But how will Yorkhill jump, how has he come out from the Lexus, is he really back.
A lot of questions, as normal. Then again, Min didn’t impress last time out. Maybe this a shock win is in the cards

Superb performance. Min v Altior should hopefully be a cracker.

Min was a giveaway @ 5/2 won it with plenty in hand but I'm sure the ground helped, should be Fav to beat Altior at the moment.

What can we say about Yorkhill?? I am sure he is much better than that, if he was mine I would put him away this year and get walsh back on him...

Just home from Leopardstown. Awesome from Min. I got some buzz from that performance.

Yorkhill - i was standing level with the finish line (which is near the start) so when they passed us the first time I was very surprised to see how Yorky was going. While Min was taking a tug Yorkhill was not keen at all. He was going as fast as he could or wanted to. Either theres something wrong with the horse or hes not quick enough for 2mile.

Personally I’m convinced Min is made for a Ryanair with a view to being a long-term King Geroge prospect.

Special Tiara set it up perfectly for a middle distance chaser today and Min settler and jumped beautifully.

After timing I know but I placed a NRNB double on Min (Ryanair) and Yorkhill (Champion Hurdle) prior to the off having seen the Yorkhill drift. However, I’d say it’s unlikely Yorkhill will even go to Cheltenham after those last two performances?

If Douvan is actually fit, Min could go up in trip. He can run well at 2m but I’m convinced he could really grow into a King George horse.

What makes you think Min is going to be better up in trip?

You might be right, however only Douvan running in the CC is going to change Min's target now... a NRNB Douvan/Min(Ryanair) double is the only possible way I can see your theory tested 32/1 NRNB with 365...

I’m not saying that’s where they’ll go with him Kev, I’m just saying ever since I watched Min last year in his novice I just think the way he jumps and travels is a little bit of Kauto about it.

He doesn’t strike me as a specialist 2m chaser like Altior/Sprinter/Moscow etc were, and that although he could hold his own at 2m that but of class and speed of utilised over further could really see him go to the next level.

Interesting that KSS, we all know he's a screw and the market told us the result before the tapes went up so clearly something wasn't right and plenty knew that before the race.
Will certainly pay very close attention to him in the preliminaries at Cheltenham....

A luxury I won't be able to have ... monies down long before the parade ring haha.

How did you find the atmosphere KSS? Looked like it was a smashimg couple of days

Atmosphere was brilliant. It was electric for the Min race and only beaten by the champion hurdle. Everyone seemed to be screaming Faugheen home and it went quite deflated for a few mins after he was beat.
Atmosphere for each race was very good in general. I love going to the Punchestown festival and found this atmosphere to be much more passionate and loud.
Cheltenham next for me, over for the Tuesday Champions day

Altior has been given an entry for @NewburyRacing on Saturday and the intention is very much to run. His work has been good and we’re very happy. We’ll keep an eye on the weather but if it stays Good to Soft/Soft, he’ll be declared. Might Bite will go straight to Cheltenham. https://t.co/LY1sCAKgaH

I think Douvan making it is far greater than the 50/50 Mullins said last week. The interview after Mins win with Rich Ricci was very telling in that he was immediately talking that he could go up in trip - think this means Douvan must be looking better than we have been led to believe.

Have used my SkyBet Free £5 this week on a Douvan (CC) / Min (Ryanair) Double today @ 24/1 - NRNB

(I covered the reverse Double earlier in the year @ 89/1)

I think that double is 32/1 NRNB with 365...

If Douvan turned up you'd have to take it as an absolutely incredibly bullish and confident move...

Can only get a few pence on with 365 :sorrow:
352/1.... are you sure? :devilish:
I’m guessing that’s a typo

Feel as though I am really missing out without a working 365 account... :sorrow:

It will never happen but they should just let Douvan and Min run here; Min will be far too free going to get home over the Ryanair trip

Nicky Henderson is "not going to promise" Altior will take up his entry in the Betfair Exchange Chase at Newbury on Saturday.

I am not going to promise.

Why not promise if all is well, I am not convinced he is 100%...
