Champion Bumper 2020

I'm not really a speed figures man but one of the guys I follow on Twitter likes the Ferny Hollow figures. If you take into account the horses that have beaten him may not go to Cheltenham, he could still one of the best that have been seen.

That would be my feeling entirely. Especially when he looks like he's got so much more to come as well. Anything we haven't seen yet may only get one run in before the Festival (Power of Pause could have two if he's out this week I suppose) and the fact FH could go there with 3 runs under his belt is quite a positive to me.

Nice to see PP shorten Ferny Hollow back into 16/1. He's become quite a big winner for me.

Hope he isn't make or break for your week though, a horse in the Bumper with no wins next to his name.

I feel like I've jumped on loads of your posts recently CCM, it's not personal I promise :highly_amused:

That's one of the reasons he annoys me a bit.... being the best by default because better horses aren't running is annoying me.

I don't know why really, in other races (like Min in the Ryanair) I use it as a positive :stupid:

To be fair the winner was given a really smart ride and looked very good value for that 7lb claim so Ferny could easily reverse the form off levels. But Ferny really is going to have to settle better or its curtains.

To my eye Uhtred is by far the best bumper horse this year, but can’t run at Cheltenham in the Bumper, having done a ‘Gypsy Island’. I’m sure there’s more to come out, but naturally the Irish DRF bumper would be the key race for Cheltenham now and for many years to come.

Think i'm going to go for the mares bumper winner from Dublin this year.

Tony Keenan mentioned him for the Supreme as a wild outsider I think. Wasn't properly listening :concern:

Untred and Eric Bloodaxe are already on my novice hurdle shortlist for next season. Gigginstown may be winding down but those two look like they’ll bring some success next year.

Not at all Kev. All opinions welcome and would never take it personally :encouragement:

I can't promise I wont give you some stick when he hacks up in this though :victorious:

I’d be worried with ferny too keen so far could easily boil over in the bumper especially if there’s a big field

He made massive strides from his first run to his second though Arkle. With another run under his belt at the DRF and the help of the master, I think he could have learnt enough to do himself justice.

Can obviously see where you are coming from though.

Its a good point, we are too quick to judge young horses who are learning. Hes clearly up there on talent just needs to learn his job. Thought Mick Pastor was brilliant today (in "moderate" company), but it took a mistake for him to learn what it was all about. After he hit the hurdle he worked out what he was supposed to do and was great from then on.

I'm with you on Ferny Hollow. He obviously has the talent it just needs a bit of channeling.

Has anything been said about him being aimed at the Champion Bumper?

Watched MP live and was impressed. Watched it back later, and he could have won by 20 lengths.

Power of Pause not declared for Thurles tomorrow.....Boooooooo

To be fair, the other had a run already so was probably always the likelier runner. Hopefully out soon!

A little time left yet. The best horse ever to win the Bumper didn't make his debut until 25th January so all is not lost.

Although Im on Ferny Hollow like so many on here at sexy prices ,and he will give a great account of himself.

I keep looking at Eric Bloodaxe and convinced if he goes he will take all the beating.

OLeary obvious reservations lowered hopefully after Abracadabra ran so well last season and pushed on this season becoming anti post fav for supreme. If Eric gets the green light i will be backing him.
