Champion Bumper 2020

Although Im on Ferny Hollow like so many on here at sexy prices ,and he will give a great account of himself.

I keep looking at Eric Bloodaxe and convinced if he goes he will take all the beating.

OLeary obvious reservations lowered hopefully after Abracadabra ran so well last season and pushed on this season becoming anti post fav for supreme. If Eric gets the green light i will be backing him.

So would I.

Hopeful of a silly NRNB price if [bookies] decide he won't go.

Then I can have my favourite kind of bet, a value non runner:highly_amused:

Think the HDB horse might show up well.

He'll have to be decent to be winning given what HDB is like in bumpers. Personally think the fav will be tough to beat this time around but that's no wild statement given his price lol.

Energumene runs tmrw , if he dont win this he wont be going festival
Suspect we’ll see a hugely improved Energumene tomorrow. Many of Willies are improving for the run and he was very well touted last season without making the track.

I've backed Energumene today before he appears at the weekend.... having another year off can only be a positive in my eyes as they said the injury wasn't serious last year. There was plenty of hype about him and I remember Ruby making some positive noises... 50/1 seems a bit of a no brainer considering I gladly took 33/1 last season.

Same as

Tom Lacey said at the time best horse he’d ever had

Energumene backed into odds on. Do we think there’s a chance he goes hurdling at all?

I'd have thought it was unlikely, but i guess they could run him in Feb and keep his novice hurdle tag until the Drinmore if they wanted to fasttrack things.

Israel Champ going straight to the Bumper-

Pipe said: "I've had a chat with the owners, and the only other possible race for him was to go to Newbury, but the plan is to now go straight to the Champion Bumper.
"He would only have one penalty to carry at Newbury, but he has already proved he warrants taking his chance in the Champion Bumper.
"He has only just turned five, so we thought we would freshen him up this month and then start training for the Champion Bumper. He won't worry about the occasion."
The Devon trainer sees Israel Champ as different type to his previous winner of the race - Moon Racer, who claimed the prize in 2015.
Pipe added: "Israel Champ is a galloper really, whereas Moon Racer was a bit more of a speedier type.
"We didn't buy Israel Champ as a bumper horse, so all this is an added bonus really. Hopefully he is one for future and the type to build over novice hurdles next season."

Fine with that, no excuse for his price to contract anymore so can wait a bit to top up

I’ve had 1pt at 33/1

Don’t think his price will change unless he completely bombs out

Down played his chances there hasn't he, old Pipey.

He'll end up in those races Grand Crus and Gevery Chambertain used to win one day - which is better than Moon Racer tbf :highly_amused:

I'm gonna do that too.

1 pt e/w

GOing to hover over 50/1 with WH too

Didn't win well enough for me to go in again, but WH only cut from 50/1 to 33/1
365 went 20/1 from 33/1

Yes could have taken the prices watching the race but it was a workmanlike win, and I’m not certain that is suggested Festival bumper winner.

Nice looker, wasn't that good performance- wise but travels well which will suit in a C.Bumper.

The performance was amazing...... until he didn't put any distance between hmself and the others for pressure :(

For a few strides it looked like he'd win by a good distance.

Still, he's won more than Ferny Hollow has, so he's more likely to run :p
