Champion Bumper 2020

Knowing a bumper horse can stay 2m3f is hardly a negative going into the Cheltenham bumper where stamina usually comes to the fore.

How is that 'not a plus'?

He can still have gears and get the trip :highly_amused:

Now getting beaten, that is NOT a plus :highly_amused:

Won't be on the boat.
Tree with no legs beat it.

Another dig at a jockey but in bumpers Patrick goes from sitting motionless to pulling his stick in a matter of strides, doesnt wind the horse up but hes only am amateur sooo.

Disappointing but not giving up on him, may come on plenty for the run.

Pushed out to 50/1 :highly_amused:

I hate this race :dejection:

He looked quite useful for about 85% of the race then you saw the winner travelling right in his slip stream going even better than he was

Ferny hollow will go close in this if the occasion doesn’t get the better of him

Might need to win a race first.
Whats the balloting criteria for this race.
Anyone know ??

Willie had made reservations about the softer ground today.
He'd won his point over good ground. May be a better horse on firmer?

Disappointing today anyway.

No balloting as such. UK handicapper creates his own ratings and the highest rated get in. Those ratings published after the five day entries. Only time there is a ballot is if several horses are on the lowest mark that gets a run.

I think he actually said the ground had come just right for him.

Can't use ground as an excuse.

Horses that show more at home than they do at the track aren't the best to back, he clearly is still a decent horse but I thought he'd be "the one" and he isn't "the one" regardless now.

POP is now 50/1 with B365.

I think there was a fair bit too like about the performance. Not Patrick's best ride, ran a bit green and put a good bit of distance between himself and Mr Lingo.

Take the winner out and we'd be excited. Plenty to work on but not a disaster.

Took 50/1

Cheers BOF.
Makes sense
When I said ballot I meant how they're ranked, as you don't ordinarily see ratings on bumper horses.
On ratings then Ferny should be absolutely fine, should be high enough up on the list.

4th or better in any bumper I think

That's part of the qualifying rules I think.
I meant how they're ranked in preference if we get 50 entries etc.

Guessers paradise confirmed yet again. How much hearsay turns out to be total garbage on the racetrack?

Power Of Pause is very ordinary to look at and on that evidence his engine is nothing special. When tackled he looked like a one paced plodder. Bet 365 pushed him out to 50/1. I would imagine he is million to even run.
