Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle (Fred Winter) 2019

Praeceps off 129 would interest me if getting in - worth a poke at 33s with B365

...as posted further back, Sporting Life’s Ben Linfoot put Praeceps up earlier in the week.

Interesting entry for Belargus in the imperial cup.
Only 4 yr old
Only JP Mcmanus horse.

Remember Ashkazar nearly doing the double many years ago

need the penalty which maybe a plan

Think BHA estimate might be a little bit off.
As looking at the ones on higher marks, a lot don't look certain runners to me,
But it's an option.
The entry is ambitious which i see as a positive though.

I'll be going through them all later with a marker pen.

Friend Or Foe from the Nicholls yard seems to be the one the money has come for.

And he's on 128 which is even more touch and go.
Backed him last night at 10-1 when i realised his mark was so low.

Think Gordon may send Couer sublime here and Surin triumph.
would suit my bets but don't expect either to win anyway.
Don't see why he would run Surin off 133 without an allowance.
She'd be effectively rated 140 in triumph.
Couer sublime can run in winter off 138 I think.

Will Gordy send Coko Beach as well do we think? Him and Lethal Steps would do for me at this stage

The preview night thread has Surin possibly going mares novice route

im a big fan of Band Of Outlaws but he looks a little high for this.
One of interest at the weights is Maze Runner for W.Mullins. He's in nicely on 129. Very interesting formline.

Couple of lurkers waiting to get in that will be of interest. Will wait on final decs though.

I took 25/1 NRNB on Capone who is one of said lurkers. That being said off 127 with the handicapper predicting 130 makes it unlikely he will get in. It's a shame because I really like him for this. Was significantly closer to Quel Destin last time out having been given a quiet ride and brought into the race late. He beat Torpillo easily, now rated 141 and Cracker Factory by 13 lengths who has gone on to run grade 1 winning Quel Destin to a length at Cheltenham. I think this was the plan all along. Based on what he did behind QD and in front of Torpillo I am surprised he isn't 129+. We'll see but its NRNB

Paddy Brennan was very positive on Fanfan du Seuil on the preview tonight.

Looked at him earlier today - think I read about him somewhere *hold on*

Yeah, ATR website:

Fanfan Du Seuil (FR)

What he did for 90% of the Triumph trial in December is more pertinent than the last 10%, considering the conditions, when he was beaten a length having traded at 100/30-on, and that’s Fanfan Du Seuil’s only defeat when completing. The main event may be off the agenda (though he still has a Triumph entry), but a mark of 136 makes the Boodles – some say the Fred Winter – a very tempting alternative, looking to have the right qualities for it, particularly his high cruising speed, bred as much for the Flat as the jumps.

Then I started looking at his form, and thought through Our Power he's better than Style De Vole...then realised that means nothing to me and got distracted by looking at the weights.

along way down to Nicholls horse

Have looked at the last 6 years. Diego is a huge trend buster but he came straight from France so I am allowing leeway for horses who have come straight from France.

5/5 1 win in last 3 starts.
5/5 Completed last 3 starts.
5/5 at least 2 runs in the new year.

That leaves you with the following:
Gardens Of Babylon
Hannon
Surin
Konitho
Beat The Judge
Fox Pro *
Ciel De Niege *
Star Max
Praeceps
Our legend
Capone
Quantamental

* = straight from France

Ciel De Neige the one, if he runs!

Been holding off but as it's NRNB don't see any reason not to add him anymore. I presume all is well, have not heard an awful lot with regards to well being.

ML Bloodstock (Guy Cherel) retain ownership of this one (currently), he's had his 3 runs in France, finished behind Fanfan Du Seuil on debut off levels by just over a length, will be getting 4lbs from that one in this race though, I just have a sneaky feeling he will have been working alongside Tiger Tap Tap (Triumph bound) and held back from running to have him in here off a nice weight, this is pure speculation on my part.

He could be anything since being switched to Mullins, but I found it fascinating that Danny Mullins (I know he does ride over there occasionally anyway) was over in France to ride him for his debut run and WPM got hold of this one. I can put a line through his run LTO in Dieppe, his previous 2 runs are what make him of certain interest, including some form behind Pic D'Orhy, where he ran a cracker, also finishing a short distance ahead of Konitho, who looks unlikely to run but if they did meet CDN would be getting 4lbs from that one too.

A lot of the trainers have already played their hands, we know the form of many, CDN goes in under the radar, and besides him being trained by WPM he would be relatively low key I'd imagine.

WPM has a good gauge on the Irish form too with the likes of La Sorelita & Maze Runner contesting races against the best of these so far.

CDN is by no means a certainty to even run but with NRNB I would not be worried about that, he is 20/1 with Coral and probably goes off shorter if he is declared.

Nice piece of home work C.O.D. just added him. On a different matter as anyone tried to have a double with Coral on the festival its impossible.

the one i like here is Maze Runner, runner up to Band of Outlaws (off levels) at Naas recently having made all, jump the last in front and made a horlex of it, albeit it Band of Outlaws was travelling better but i really think he would have put it up to him, managed to get himself right and put over 3ls between himself at the 3rd, rated 129 he'll be in receipt of 10lbs this time with the fav Band of Outlaws
