Bet Victor Gold Cup

On Baron Alco he finished 2nd in a festival handicap off the same mark, to a horse who he was giving 1lb to, who has since won 3 G1s.

Also given the horse was off 557 days surely he is entitled to improve for the run.

The horses to beat him over fences are as follows:

Whisper - who he gave 5lb to by 2.5L now rated 167.
Top Notch - beat 5L now rated 162, had the now 156 rated Le Prezien in behind in 3rd.
Road To Respect - Beat 6L giving him 1lb now rated 169.
Charbel - beat him by a head and was ahead again after the line in receipt of 12lb follow 557 day lay off.

For me the big thing is if Jamie Moore is on him.

I would agree IF it wasn’t for the 557 days off the track.
Some folks will say he’ll improve for the run, others will say he will bounce. Personally, I think he’ll run up to the same mark as when he was narrowly beaten by Charbel, and I’m not sure whether that will be good enough to win.

I shortlisted Baron Alco, but there’s a niggle here and a niggle there despite his form as a novice.

After analysing form, trend and watching previous races, you end up making a decision, and I’ve decided Kalondra is the fine for me. I can see Alco being in the frame - top 4, and Benatar is the joker in the pack.

The rest will be left to fight over scraps

Jamie Moore going to ride Benatar according to S.life.

Absolutely brilliant Baron Alco, i could feel yer jockeys confidence in you from my sitting room. I just hope Folski convinced some of you with his excellent write up.

I have gone for Baron Alco. Was impressed by his return run. Prior to this was 2nd to Road To Respect at Chelt in 2017 will have matured since then and i suspect has been primed for this.

Well done Joe .good pick !.

Well done to Joe and Folski - top shout

Sorry Folski ., Well done to you as well.!

Yep, well done winners.

I managed to back 4 horses in the race and they all hit the deck.
Reminded me of the time I hit 3 balls into 3 different lakes on the same hole....

Well done winners.

I can't remember watching such a chaotic race outside of the national fences.
