Ballymore (Previously Neptune) Novice Hurdle 2018

I don't either as a rule Scooby. I might lay some off just before NRNB comes into play, and then back him with that concession.

It's a good shout. I should have laid faugheen off 2 years ago when he was 1/4 ...... but i like leaving all the money to be collected after the festival. much easier if you already backed on the exchange.

Liking the look of my multiple of American for the Hennessy (12) Samcro for Neptune (16) and Cause of Causes (7) - The last two are certs!

very impressive. Could go supreme or Neptune with that turn of foot.
 
After hearing what the trainer and jockey said my moneys on this race and this one only.Just looked at my antipost bets and have samcro in a few trebles as well.
 
Can't see him going for anything but this race now. The AB is the least fanciable of the 3 and they saw how Death Duty was undone last season by it so would happily rule that out even IF he is better than Death Duty. The supreme is more likely but Gigginstown know Willie & Ricci target this festival opener so why risk challenging a good thing from them when the Neptune will more likely be the easier option, not to mention he clearly travels and stays the trip incredibly well, it's a no brainer for me.
 
Graded race yet he made them look like trees. Struggling to see what might beat him. Superstar in the making I feel.

Not all these will go for the neptune but that's the best crop of horses that I believe could go for the neptune. Can start ruling them out 1 by 1. As samcro goes along And they go up in grade also. My personal list from the start of the season.

Just echoing what I think Kev and Scooby have said before that the support Samcro got for this race in the middle of the week around 6 weeks ago was a big indicator of his plans. Appreciate that it doesn't take much for bookies to change their prices but think Paddy's cut from 14s to 8s tells you something. I was already on any race at that point but started backing him for this race in particular after that before he went single fingers everywhere later that week.

Similarly based on Annamix's only previous run it was suggested he went up in trip, yet all the money came for him in the Supreme, surely from those in the know / connected to the stable. Think it would take something pretty significant to happen for the stables to change target when their money is already down for a particular race. Not sure anyone knows any cases where this has happened before as this is the first season I've followed the markets closely this far out.
 
Just re-watched the race about 4 times, I think the scariest part is that we haven't seen him off the bridle yet over hurdles. From memory, Faugheen, Douvan & Vautour all travelled supremely well for all of their pre festival novice races and he looks like he could well be at that level.
 
Heres what i thought as had to record the race as was out.Looks a big horse and looks like it will jump a fence next season.Seen someone on here say next years Arkle but thinking RSA or JLT brfore Gold cup. Which route did Don Cossack go before winning the Gold Cup?

Not long ... I imagine the number of multiples on him is growing, I keep thinking about it and I don't need to so I imagine that lure is driving it a little

Agreed, I've got some bang looking multies with Samcro in, and got any race at 10s, the bookies can cut away, I'm done
 
I’ve put another 2U on at 9/2 before his last race

I backed him any race @12s in May but only put 1U down and left it thinking I had more on him so I’m annoyed at myself, 9/2 is short enough though, I think I’ll be waiting for the day now before any more singles go on
 
What do we think about Samcro's price now, top price 9/4 but generally 2/1. Less than two weeks ago people were saying his price was ridiculous when he was around 5/1.

I still think 9/4 is worth taking and will continue putting him in doubles but just wondered what the general consensus was one his price at the moment?

Ridiculous price for what he's done so far. Which isn't much more than what he'd do in a schooling hurdle. Very impressive i get it the way he travells and the ease of which he goes about his business. Would have more in the tank than what he shows ..... But he has beat trees up to now. All be it very very easily. And done everything he's been asked to do. I guarantee he won't win the ballymore in the same manner.
