Ballymore Novice Hurdle 2020

If Malone Road was fit and well, we’d all be having an entirely different conversation. Things change in racing and this is a very good example of it.

And a certain Andy Dufrence and many others waiting for him there. Don't be lulled into thinking Ballymore is the easiest option.

Andy Dufresne won a nothing race (albeit very impressively) and your talking about him as if he's the Ballymore top dog. We have no idea until he's properly tested whether or not he will be up to that level. Premature to assume he will (i hope he is)

I'm not being lulled into thinking either are easy options. This debate clearly divides opinion and has the potential to go round and round in circles. Nobody who thinks he will go to the supreme can say with any confidence he is better suited to 2m that 2m5f (because we haven't seen it), but they can say he looks an excellent 2 miler. Those in the Ballymore camp haven't seen him over 2m5f either, so are relying on their own judgement. I trust mine and think he will go Ballymore.

With all due respect, I live in a house paid for by knowing when bookmakers get it wrong. This is not it. Last week he'd win the CH. This week he stays over 2m, Let's see.

Book makers dont give away free money, hes 5/2 just to run in the supreme. That seems great odds doesn't it?

Vautour who was 100% going for the GC. The special was priced up as
Ruby to ride the 16/1 shot djakadam 4/7
Ruby to ride the 9/2 co fav vautour 6/4
And the crys of free money went out.

Little point in arguing about it, watch it play out, I'll sit back and relax. And before you know it the tapes will be up in the ballymore.

They did give away free money then. As i am sure you will recall the opening prices in this market....

I personally don’t think Gordon has another horse capable of winning the supreme other than Envoi, yet the Ballymore he clearly does.
Envoi will run in the supreme and IMO if he doesn’t it will be a huge mistake.

There are so many things still to happen it's difficult to tell for sure.
I think some are convinced that because of what happened with Samcro, that this may re occur.

I do think it's fair to suggest he has always had the ballymore in mind, and this was definitely the case with Samcro, but he's been and done it all by now. Envoi Allen has still got it to prove.

But the biggest difference is that Gordon was at pains in every interview that Samcro was going to the ballymore (although even this became doubtful in the run up when the ground went soft, especially on the back of his deloitte win)

With Envoi Allen this has not been the case, in actual fact it's been the other way slightly in his comments. This could simply be designed to keep the price more balanced, but also cos it's not as set in stone.

You are making sweepingly definitive statements with little substance. What horse does Gordon have (other than EA) that could clearly win a Ballymore? How do you know EA won’t be more suited to 2m5f?

Preliminary enquiries indicate that bet365 have no plans to suspend cashout when NRNB comes in.... but will post when I hear more tomorrow.

FFS don't put any ideas in their heads :highly_amused:

I don’t know but I do know envoi would win the supreme. Abacadabras can’t win in my opinion.

We all know the big volume of bets are for the Ballymore, and that this fire caught light early in the season, and the price has always been shorter. I dont think anyone would disagree with that.

I don’t think Cheveley Park paid £400K for the horse to be swayed on where to run based on any amount of antepost bets.

That’s why their comments about 2M until beaten seem sensible as the owners, and owners who would be disengaged with antepost betting trends and prices.

Maybe the horse has taken connections by surprise with how he is handling 2M at the moment.

Can just imagine the conversation between owner and trainer if he does keep winning 2M Grade 1’s.

Owner: So why do you think we should step up in trip to the Ballymore, Gordon, when he has won five Grade 1’s in bumper and hurdles over 2M?

Trainer: Because the stable lads have backed him for the Ballymore, more than the Supreme.

Owner: Are you seriously saying that is a good enough reason for us to switch??????

This will be how the conversation will actually go (assuming yard money is king)

Trainer, "I've not been 100% happy with him since the cut thing so I think the Christmas races will come too soon, so I think we should go for the 2m 4f race at Naas, as I'd like to get another run into him before Dublin, and there's not much else he can go for"
(all this with preferably the jockey stood alongside nodding in agreement).

Owner - "Ok"

It's important to look back to last years bumper when Gordon didn't want to run. Staying chaser in the making etc but Chevely forced his hand. Just because Gordon would like to run in the Ballymore and have Abba for the Supreme doesn't mean the owner is going to agree!

Personally Andy D will run sunday and run in the 2m6 at the DRF and then on to the Bartlett. Envoi will go Naas on the 5th Jan, Deloitte at the DRF and then the Ballymore. To top the bet up stick Samcro in for the RSA. See you on the other side chaps.

All jokes aside Andy D is a Doyen and they stay! I like to look at past results and see what paths trainers take and IF Andy D turns up Sunday he will follow the footsteps of No More Heroes and Death Duty.

Thats my opinion..... Hit Me!

I don't know about AD.

But don't be fooled by the chat on samcro. JLT.

Someone might ?

Highly unlikely. Hes the true fav atm. Its basically the without envoi allen market imo.

Hes the fav, Until the future champion atleast. I rate him highly. I'll be honest and say I dont know how good unexcepted is, and I hope that abracadabras has is measure. I think he does.
But will have to wait and see.
