Ballymore Novice Hurdle 2019

I thought it odd that Angels Breath was taken out of Chelt for the ground think this entry goes a long way to explaining why.

The kennel gate.
It's a well known supreme route for hendo.

Not really the best record of finding the Supreme winner from, this race.

2017 - Claimantakinforgan (won it) & Slate House ran in it, both readily beat at the festival, though Slate House did fall, he was behind at the time.

2016 - Keep In Line finished 3rd in it and got stuffed by Wholestone in the Neptune, Thomas Campbell finished 5th @ Ascot then 5th @ the festival in the Martin Pipe.

2015 - Yanworth, the last horse to do anything of note after competing in the race, won @ Ascot before finishing 2nd in the Neptune, Charbel was in 2nd @ Ascot but was stuffed by Altior (no surprise) in the Supreme that season.

2014 - L'ami Serge won the race then got smashed by Douvan at the festival, Killultagh Vic finished 2nd to L'ami Serge @ Ascot but did win the Martin Pipe that season.

2013 - Irving won the race then got hammered in the, you guessed it, Supreme, by Vautour, Splash Of Ginge 3rd to Irving @ Ascot, hammered in the same Supreme.

Seems like it is one for horses that go further than the Supreme.

And which race in the UK, not Ireland , has the best record, the cheltenham trials I'd imagine ?.
People were saying same dort of thing last year bout the tolworth and look what happened.

Think this stat means very little other than previous winners haven't proved good enough or turned up come March.
It's just what it is, nothing more

Yeah, I wouldn't read too much into that entry yet, Willie, amongst other trainers has multiple entries in that race. Tough start out to life over hurdles should he take that on first time out.

Available at 42.0 for a couple of quid of BF suggests the entry could be some way off! :disgust:

Think they skipped Chelt for a crack at Grade 2 first time out which hopefully means they think hes rather good

Impressed with Al Dancer?

Could have a bit of a related each way double there Billy with Angel's Breath? ;)

Fair point Quevega, but I have differing views on the Tolworth anyway so don't listen to that one so much.

I guess it depends how you view each race, and although I have only had a look at the history of the Kennel Gate today I can't see a positive view on it for the Supreme as of yet. I will keep an eye out for one's like Angels Breath who may well step up in trip after this though.

Interesting idea Kev on the related double. Tempted

713/1 with Slybet... I bet people have placed worse bets today with their free bets :p

Al Dancer is on my Radar , but where do you think he'll end up , I was thinking supreme ??.

Yes i think so. But without seeing Angels Breath its all guess work at moment. Id of thought that if the pair were good enough to line up at the festival then most owners would try and keep them apart.

Downtown Getaway finally confirmed in a hot looking race at Newbury tomorrow over 2m4f. I was expecting him to be more middle distance so this should mean he’s likely to be a Ballymore or Albert Bartlett horse. Forces my hand a bit now as if he wins that well he’ll be cut significantly.

Can't wait to see him Jackie. I was actually thinking more AB with the entry, MR WHIPPED won this race last year and still went the AB route even though they had SANTINI.

I’ve struggled to get a handle on his potential target as his bumper performance had a bit over everything. Probably one for the ‘any race’ market to be fair.

Agreed. Also connections have TORNADO FLYER so of they both make it to the festival they will likely be kept apart.

It’s hard to know what the owners may do but they may split them. However, if I had two good bullets, I’d rather aim them at the same target instead of weakening my chances by running one in the wrong race. I don’t have a lot of reference to the owners so not sure they’ve been in the position with multiple Cheltenham runners before.

Face The Facts less than convincing today.
