Ballymore Novice Hurdle 2019

5 day confirmations tomorrow lunchtime.

I'm liking these bold moves by 365 to get the cash out money. DK out to 33s for this. He's not one for me , but if you fancied him before you wouldn't be distraught with that over 2m.

This one they may well be right, but
They're going to make some mistakes doing this . Especially when down the line one gets beat by a very good one and they're going for different races
Ie the novice chase on Friday.

They look like they got Quick Grabim wrong at 50s in the Supreme after his defeat

365 seem about the only ones content on moving prices out by a fair bit, also, for whatever reason, have gone 9/1 Annamix, so are stand out, not saying that it's a good bet, but they seem to be making a better effort to keep prices competitive than most.

With prices and the cash out function, I think it's clear that 365 want to keep the Cheltenham ante post punter in their portfolio

Alighted runs tomorrow for Joseph O’Brien in the first at Punchestown. He looks like the Gigginstown second string based on silks and jockey bookings. Although he’s over 2m tomorrow, I think he’ll move up to this trip in the future and will remain on my watchlist for now.

Apologies that this was covered a few days back, but Thomas Darby is 25/1 for this race still with 365 (as short as 12s with PP) and just HAS to be one for a step up in trip doesn't he?

Lost very little in defeat, didn't jump as nicely as DTLUOT but clearly a very, very talented horse.

I already had him backed at 25/1 for this rac,e and seeing him the same price I want to back him again.

Any thoughts?

I really like him Kev and think there is loads of improvement to come as he hasn't a clue what he's doing at the moment. Agree that a step up in trip will suit.

I disagree as I think the supreme will suit better, a strongly run 2 miles on a stiffer track seems to my eye to be perfect for now. And up against what I regard as a pacey horse last time he wasn't found out for speed.
I've backed him for supreme, but wouldn't for the Ballymore.
Having said all that the trainer may well disagree and go here, if so, I'll let it run at this stage unless I see something before March to change my mind.

I thought about the strongly run race angle and that could suit, but my gut feeling was now that he's been beaten over 1m7f, they'll at least attempt him over further next time before making a decision? I figure I can react then - (I do already have him backed for the Supreme as well for the same odds and stake) - so will be cashing one out.

That wasn't a true running LTO IMHO.

They crawled through the first part of the race and think Thomas Darby ran a cracker with absolutely nothing to aim at, unlike what he will be able aim at in the Supreme.

Definitely in the Supreme camp for him personally. Yard also have Brewin'upastorm & Itchy Feet as potential hopes for either race too.

Owner has had hardly any Ballymore runners in the past but has had a fair few Supreme runners, whether that will have any bearing I honestly doubt but had considered it initially myself.

Kev,
Itchy feet: He'll have a little break before going on to Musselburgh for the Supreme trial and possibly back to Cheltenham for the Supreme?
Brewinupastorm could be Murphys Ballymore horse?? not sure where TD goes??????????

No evidence to suggest what Olly Murphy would do in regards to spliting horses really at festivals so I'll see how the land lies I guess.

I'm not as keen on Itchy Feet as Thomas Darby, on the form line with Elixir De Nutz and Brewin' hasn't had a run yet so too early to worry?

Kev,
If any of those 3 make the festival Olly will have them ready, and they won't disappoint imo. You can count on that.

I think the likes of DTLYOT TD itchy feet elixir de nutz are early bench marks. So I can see why people fancy them early. But there's a whole host of serious novices set to come out as we'll see shortly. They've got far bigger tests ahead than just racing each other.

I'm not sure any trainers don't get them ready for Cheltenham though.

Olly Murphy has zero festival winners so far, I'll not get too carried away by his genius just yet.

Long way to go for him until he's at the level of Skelton, let alone Elliott.

ALthough I obviously hope this year is his big breakthrough, I don't think it can be counted on just yet?

I really like the look of Column Of Fire going forward. I know Gordon tends to split up his better chances at the festival so with Commander Of Fleet looking like he’s Ballymore bound at present where looks the most likely destination for Column of Fire do you think? Not sure he has the pace for the Supreme, too good for the Martin Pipe maybe...

He’s entered up for a couple of maiden hurdles in Ireland over the next few days (2m & 2m 2f), might be a good time to get him onside!

Not sure . If your quick enough you might get a big any race price as they'd still have him down as a bumper horse. I'd think he'd be a ballymore horse myself. Whether that means COF would go else where I dont know. Worth noting he's not really done anything yet. Vibes are stronger on him than commander of fleet imo. But his bumper he won last time was awful. So the pair might not be world beaters. Too early to say because as it stands they're very nice prospects. We'll learn more as they go up in grade.

********
We'll see a nice novice for this at the weekend.

True enough they do both look Ballymore types to me aswell, incidentally the race Column Of Fire is entered up for at Fairyhouse on Sunday is the race Blow By Blow was done on the line by Discorama last year, reversed 1st & 2nd in the Martin Pipe??? (probably reading between the lines a little too much there tbh).

Awful pity Ladbrokes have done away with there any race market. Think the only way of requesting a price from Hills through twitter and I don't tweet.

Really annoying with lads. I believe iv made very good use of it while it lasted anyway. With any luck it will come back, unfortunately Dosent look like it though. Paddy have pretty much scrapped it too.

Regarding Thomas Darby likely festival target , I just wonder does this particular horses owners has a say in designated targets.

Both Captain Chris and Menorah made winning festival debuts at 2 miles (arkle & supreme) though both became regulars at running over further. Does suggest Mrs Whateley buys horses for longevity , and no better way to achieving that by not sending them further than breeding suggests in their younger days.
