August ‘23 Yankee

Am I the only one who doesn't get the Ile Atlanique hype? He's clearly good, but I couldn't have him in Willie's top 5 bumper horses from last year.

Yea no interest, to be fair I think Josh is trying to be as left field as possible with his selections.

Supreme - Mirazur West 16/1
BANC - Corbetts Cross 10/1
Turners - InThePocket 12/1
NHC - Champ Kiely 20/1

Prices PP - Acca 51050/1

FWIW I have done this one. Feels like we have been debating August for weeks and it's only the 3rd! LOL. Can't be waiting another 28 says to put one on....

Best to ignore me Eggs - I'm obviously way off the pace with plans for IEP.

You might not be far off the pace mate.

After all the discussion regarding IEP today, Willie has just said about Zarak The Brave after winning the Galway Hurdle that "we've got to look at him now as a Champion Hurdle contender" so surely the double green don't send two to the Champion Hurdle?

Maybe some more pieces of the puzzle there.

FWIW I couldn't have Zarak for the Champion Hurdle myself.

Me neither but he certainly paid a big compliment to Gala Marceau - had to top up a little GM-Gaelic Warrior double on the back of that.

Zarak The Brave winning the Galway Hurdle pushes me harder on thinking IEP going Chasing (Turners) and equally as important it really does make Gala Marceau look a very good AP bet for the Mares. We're on the right track. I think.

It's so bloody difficult isn't it. Agree though, the obvious thing is to send IEP Chasing now if Zarak is his number 2 Champion Hurdle horse. Big positive for GM as well. Now we know YWIW plan is chasing , GM price looks of better value. Still got Zenta and Lossiemouth to think of though. All 3 won't turn up.

Just out of interest, why is everyone keen on Gala Marceau and not Lossiemouth? Is it a price thing?

Price initially, but GM run in France was very impressive at the trip.

Will 100% want Lossie in the book sooner or later

Sending Impaire Et Passe chasing would also break the tie that could end up with him shadowing Constitutional Hill possibly for the next 2-3 seasons. ie....if CH goes novice chasing in 2025 IEP would be moving into open company at the same stage.

Yes that’s fair. Not a criticism of him, just I’ve seen a few mention him (last season also) and I just thought he looked a bit one paced and not up for a fight.

Also realised that was a video from a couple of weeks ago and not the one you were commenting on. Doh!

Price and the fact Gala ran and hosed up over 2m3 1/2f in Auteuil, so the trip isn't an issue for her. Lossiemouth still has that one question prove.

Lossiemouth is bred stoutly enough to suggest the trip won't be a problem, but that doesn't always relay to the track.

Fully agreed, he looks a bit of a bridle merchant, I couldn’t have him but he is young enough to mature into a hardier animal. Not for me though.

believe they were talking about him as a potential grade 1 animal over fences and not hurdles, if I’m not mistaken. Fully agree though finds nothing off the bridle and not one I’d be rushing to back, happy to be wrong however :welcoming:

I hope that is the target for Zarak would swing the IEP decision thank god.
