Arkle 2020

No ones giving Notebook the credit he deserves one bit, by far the one to beat and will take a good one to get past him

No one?

Loads of people have backed him.

He wouldn't be odds on to beat Melon would he?

I think some got carried away with Fanion winning a pretty poor race first time up myself.

Brewin'upastrom's form looking pretty good now and he's clear first pick this side of the water.

I thought that was a good effort from Melon. We know he will be a better horse at Cheltenham in March, But well done those sitting on the 50/1 vouchers for Notebook. Great spot and he is the rightful fav now... the one to beat. Just wonder if De Bromhead will have his string in the same form come March, his are flying right now.

Mullins on melon
He added on plans: "I'd imagine the Arkle is the likely target. He could come back here for the Dublin Racing Festival and will need more experience."

Bapaume is a dark horse for this. Just hope they drop him back in trip nto.

Still 16/1 with Hills. 17.5 with boost.

I'm not sure you can take a 21L win by Brewin'upastorm literally though, Brewin isn't 21L clear of todays field?

Decent poke at 16/1 though now still though..... always been a fan of Brewin, but don't think he's as good as I hoped (but that's true of most horses in this race now)

Im not taking it literally, Global Citizen has clearly come on a lot since they met, but its a boost nonetheless. And GBB ran a fine race at Cheltenham too giving the winner weight.

GBB still got beat though.

It's not a knock for the form but I wouldn't take it as a boost really.

I might add Brewin' at some point though. Is he due to run or did he have a set back I can't remember hearing anything for a little bit.

He had a very small setback but think we should see him early Jan.

Whatever you think about melon I think he is a shoe in to place in this and at 20/1 I’m more than happy to be on in singles and trixies. We all know he turns up at Cheltenham and runs his race even if he is short of top class. The fact that he has won in December today is surely only a boost. I’m more than happy to have him in my book!

Yeah I don't think anyone will be knocking Melon really.

It's hard to come up with 3 horses likely to finish ahead of him in March in a 2 mile chase.

After he won today I thought he wouldn't win it but there is only Notebook that hasn't taken a knock yet.

And Brewin? He has done nothing wrong either.

I think Melon is a fair price but he's not a shoe in to place. He has to reverse form with FD and Notebook looks the best of them all so for me Melon has to be better than all the English to place. I'm not saying that he isn't but it's not guaranteed.

He'll be 8lbs better off with Fakir so its not hard to see him reversing that form to be fair.

Agree. At the weights he's entitled to be shorter than Fakir. Mullins appears now to have committed him to the Arkle which is good news. We know he loves Cheltenham and will appreciate better ground so he has to be near the top of any list for this race.

Watched Melons race back again and thought that he travelled really well and jumped great on the whole apart from the last. He did exceptionally well to get back on a even keel quickly and won cosily at the line. He'll be right in the thick of it again in March.

Did anyone catch the post race comments about Melon, did they mention future targets or how they thought he handled the race distance please
