Arkle 2020

Was thinking exactly this straight after the race today

Totally agree regarding TD, posted on the JLT thread, just didn’t look right at all. Almost he didn’t look like he was enjoying it

I wouldn’t give up on the supreme form just yet, there’s always going to be runners that come on the following season and those that disappoint. AB Fakir have done well TD Itchy not so good. Felix is injured and aramon can’t run. Mister fisher looked decent enough fto giving a chunk of weight away. KD will certainly come on for his first run no question.

There was a Lot of talk about who Mullins might run in the Navan novice at the weekend just gone.
I remember thinking at the time, about making a jokey comment along the lines of.

What if his entry is Cash Back ?

Now it's won, quite well.
Timeform rated it 145p - highest novice chase mark so far.
Not a mention :disgust:
Not even quoted anywhere by any bookies:disgust:
Bit slack for this forum :disgust:

Is a bit old I suppose.

Shockingly bad from Thomas Darby there thought there might be some improvement in him from the last day but there was zero positives. Cashed my Arkle/JLT singles after Warwick & the doubles got the bullet today.

I’d be concerned if I had a wedge on Klassical Dream, the Supreme form is fit for the bin!

Careful with that KD form.....you'll get in trouble.....ha, ha !

Has anyone asked for a price on this horse yet ?
I can't tell you how embarassing it will be if it wins the arkle.
The forum would have to close.

The Arkle would have to be worse than last years for him to win it IMO, so no, don't think I'll be asking for a price.

Can't find a piece of form that makes him of interest and over hurdles he has lengths to make up with Notebook and even Breaken, who again, I like a lot, but probably wouldn't be good enough to wi the Arkle either.

I'd be embarrassed for racing if he won it.

Not really exposed though is he ?
One bad run for mullins the other two were pretty decent after two years off. Also interesting that Mullins ran him in March for the first time over hurdles. Seems fairly obvious that chasing was the plan for this season.
Bit short sighted Cod I reckon.
He won on Sunday and was backed into 11/10 to do so, in a race where Mullins has introduced some of his best ever chasers.

Short sighted, maybe, but I can't back them all and he is one that doesn't interest me at all for the reasons stated.

He'll mop up some prize money, that I have no doubt about, but festival level? Not for me.

Mullins has entered a lot of good novices in all sorts of races over the years, picking one race out of that many doesn't mean an awful lot to me.

Mullins said: “That was a good performance. He’s a very forward-going horse, in the Un De Sceaux mode.

“I think he’ll stick to that trip, and his jumping should improve with fitness. We’ll head to Christmas, and he’ll have to improve to go to the highest grade.

“We’ll try to keep Laurina, Tornado Flyer and him apart at this stage.”

As on other threads, I don't trust what a trainer says an awful lot, but reading between them lines it would appear Willie has given the game away about there they will be heading.

Cash Back would be third (at the very least) in the pecking order, but as you know it only takes a couple of injuries. I still wouldn't be backing him unless Laurina and a few others at the head of the market were out of the race.

Should see a form line today for Tornado, and a few others like BOD & Ronald Pump.

that Navan race has certainly got a strong roll of honour. Cash Back's jumping would need to improve, but his price is fair enough

Notebook is my biggest outlay AP so far, and i hope it is not based just on a hunch. He was one of a couple of horses that really caught my eye in the pre-parade ring with a view to going over fences from the novices at the festival. If any of you are able to get to a track to see him, he is huge and has a great amount of scope for a fence. The fact that has dealt with a track like Punchestown, should really bode well, as you'd expect to Cheltenham to suit far more

Yep, I liked him so much I backed him twice at 50's.
I wasn't impressed with Tornado on debut, and they all finished in a heap in comparison to Cash Back who strung them out and won in a fast time. But it's yet to be seen what the opposition was like. And Tornado did make a very bad mistake.

I like Notebook too, though it took a while for me to warm to him, but I've just put the first of a few free bets on him, but not quite the brilliant 50's some of you got!

hope all three of us are right then! :highly_amused: i nearly went and backed him for the ballymore when i saw him. Clearly just a day out for him tho

I havent been overly impressed with many others, bar possibly Brewin upastorm, who i think will end up in the JLT. Still waiting on a couple of other English challengers to come out. I do think Seddon will leave his hurdle form behind

Anybody else impressed with Aspire Tower at Punchestown today?

Not for the arkle obviously.
But he looked good, and has some decent form on the flat too.

Brewin’ should go Arkle. I think Murphy will regret going JLT, if he does. Brewin’ showed on his debut he has the galloping speed and takes his fences well enough to go quickly in the Arkle and still have stamina to kick. He’ll burn out in the JLT and get picked off.
