Equine Flu Outbreak

Hopefully some of this Saturday’s races can be rescheduled for next Saturday

No racing until 13th Feb at the earliest, thoughts?

We had this a few years ago and it certainly never shut racing down or stuck around for long so I've got no doubts Cheltenham will go ahead, I couldn't possibly face another abandonment, that Monday evening in March 2001 was close to be being the most depressing day of my life, only outdone by my wedding day.

A word of warning on trends for this year, there'll be plenty of UK horses who miss their scheduled prep run and I can see a bout of jumpers bumpers as soon as racing resumes. but there are those who put a line through horses who have/haven't run in last x days, horses who run at Southwell/Wolvo or horses who don't finish 1,2.3 etc in their last run, trends will need a complete re-think for me....

...I had a little interest in Leoncavallo in Saturday’s Betfair Hurdle, presume that will be void.

I would check rules on the bookmakers site as this could be one of those where different bookies operate different policy.

Not convinced that's correct...

I thought that most give you the option to void or leave. If rescheduled.
But not sure if it depends on whether it's reopened or not.
if it's rescheduled and reopened I'd expect online accounts to void.

Yes agree.
If the race is run at another venue I think the conditions of the race have sufficiently changed for all bets to be voided, but you are correct that if the race is run at Newbury a few days later bookie rules may say that bets stand unless you request a void/refund.

I don't think it's correct either. Some bookies will allow it to be run on a different day, others won't. Check their T & Cs

I had a work meeting with a rather large bookmaker today. Brought it up as some small talk and they seemed relatively unperturbed by it
- doubted it being a longer term thing

I hope this bet is a loser:

4pts no racing before 1st March 7/2

I saw PP were 5/1, but said 'Flat Racing Championship' in the bet description so left it.

Bookies will do whatever works best for them but that includes good/bad publicity. Their rules are usually written very vaguely.

Most likely, any race that is reopened will attract a new book with the old book voided.

Seems awful to be doing it, but 2 points on, thanks mate
