Arkle 2020

Anyone know what the crack is with Draconien? Mullins said he was out for the season in his stable tour but Ruby gave a positive mention to him a couple of days after that. Couldn’t find any further clarity since but he’d be one i’d like to keep on side if there was any chance he’d make it back for March

A guess but Ruby probably wasn't fully in the know + was commenting off the cuff. Not certain of course but he's done it a few times already this year.

Have added Notebook - 50/1 for this before tomorrow.

Fairly decent race tomorrow where he re-opposes EdB along with Moon Over Germany and the well thought of Mount Pelier.
I'd be slightly worried about the ground for him which could allow EdB to reverse the form (when otherwise i'd be hard pressed to see a reason why). Think he's better on less testing ground.

The Craddockstown Novice Chase is clearly a race Henry de Bromhead likes for his 2 mile novice chasers. Identity Thief, Sizing John and going back further Sizing Europe all won the race before going onto the 2 Irish Arkle trials at Christmas / and the now labelled Dublin Racing Festival. (and IT was lined up all season for the Arkle until never recovering from the defat by Min at Christmas)

At this stage the Irish Trials might not take too much winning. Fakir Doudairies could well mop them up but if Notebook is able to win tomorrow, he'll almost certainly go onto those races and would deserve to be there before a likely Arkle run in March.

Very decent price Jono, would obviously expect he won't be good enough, but then again i'm look at Mount Pelier who probably isn't either!

I have the feeling that eclair de beaufeu will turn around the form tomorrow, but I havent the balls to take the 50s without cashout.
Whether that form would be good enough to win the arkle, I doubt. But its tempting to chase the price and hope for the best.

Agree with you on ECLAIR BEAUFEU Scooby. Gordy entered him in at least two winter Cheltenham Handicap hurdles to get a UK hurdles mark for a Festival plan. He was probably ridden too forward for the race in the County Hurdle leading into the straight until caught up the hill at the last flight and UR.

Only a 5yo, he has performed even better over fences and I fancy him to go close if not win today.

Cant find a place in the Fez at the moment as I'm not sure he is an Arkle winner, though it's not always a race won by obvious horses, let alone those obvious in November.

If he wins this Grade 2 well then we know he is good enough for an Arkle run. If not then maybe a good quality handicap.

Notebook - a prime example of how jumping well can make a big difference.
best natural jumper we've seen so far.

Well done. I thought eclair de beaufeu was travelling all over him at one point, but he did the business well in the end.

Agreed. Very happy with that performance.

Looks like he really likes it (jumping fences that is)
thought he was good on debut, and jumped well again nearly all the way round today.
seems to not take much out of him, which allows him to have energy left.
probably not naturally fast enough, but he's a player at minute

QUOTES: NOTEBOOK looked impressive here last time and it's nice to see him back it up. His jumping was great. The ground was a concern but he was electric and he is really exciting. His jumping is so quick and flamboyant that he'll stick to 2 miles - Henry De Bromhead, trainer.

Yes Notebook Rachel Blackmore and Henry De Bromhead, could be seeing them in March. HDB a master trainer of chasers.

Hopefully we can get over the crap English 2m chasers now!

Both very average, and if anyone says otherwise I'd say it's a bias opinion due to cash down.

Tbh I was happy with that from al dancer. And wont cash

How far do Fakir D and Melon beat that lot in todays Arkle Trial?

The myth of Al Dancer/Getaway Trump form being Arkle quality is blown apart three weeks later.

Al Dancer & Getaway Trump will have to massively improve to win the Arkle this season, they both looked lifeless up the hill after emptying before the final fence. Gutted as I have them both but not sure how competitive they can be. The conditions will probably be better in March, it still looks very soft today

Tbf Trump looked like he was about to challenge until he thumped the second last.

Looks to be going to Ireland at this stage though.

Just repeating myself but Trump needs the intermediate trip
