Arkle 2020

I saw race and he looked a really good jumper....but RPR 144 similar to last. Needs to improve, but i'm not so sure can trust ratings that much in weak races....and only needs say 10-12 pounds improvement to be live contender

Decent 3rd in Fred Winter off big weight and 4 years old form at Festival often comes back couple years later (usually Triumph i know)

I've added him with cashout for Arkle as like stable (been there and it a good ambitious operation).....but tend to agree maybe handicapper....just feels likely very open race again this year unless Laurina a star

I would have initially thought the same that possibly a handicapper but at 50’s will be worth a small play. Both performances have been really good albeit small fields but took care of ballymore on his comeback fairly easily. Definitely be worth seeing if he’s entered up in grade next time out and seeing how he fairs

Stormy Ireland
For anyone interested I’ve just rang Billies again ( 3rd time )
The 11-7 shift didn’t put the price up but they’ve just confirmed the v unattractive 10/1 Any Race and
The Arkle 33/1

Laurina finally cut by 365, 9/1 from 14's, think they were reluctant to do so with cash out as an option

Interesting comments regarding Tornado Flyer

"He is going novice chasing and is one that could end up being best over two miles. He is out of a mare by Exceed And Excel that is a half-sister to Hurricane Fly, so there is plenty of natural speed there."

I shortlisted him for the JLT on that thread as I still believe he's a two and a half miler. I was the same last year where I only liked him for the Ballymore too.

Thomas Darby looks to have a real test on his hands tomorrow.

First flow, Summerville boy, and western Ryder, are all fringe graded horses over hurdles.

According to Olly he’s fairly forward in his work. More so than Brewin was anyway. He’ll have to be sharp over his fences to beat that field however.

Have requested with 365 for the Arkle

He looked anything but fluent over hurdles so I'd be apprehensive on how he'll adjust to fences.

Thomas Darby non runner today

A shame, as i wanted to see him in a competitive race, and this would have fitted the bill.
But he did say if it was soft 1st time up hed be pulled.

Think everyone will be the same mate, can see why if it’s that soft at uttoxeter.
Hopefully be another entry fairly quickly.

Nice start from Summerville Boy there, although looked to get outpaced on soft ground, pace of the Arkle would be a worry.

Yeah not enough there to make me want to back him.

A lot of slow jumps aswell, I suppose his final two at better pace would be a positive but would want to see more at 16/1

Thought it was a decent start... I thought he lost ground after being impeded a couple of times, rather than getting outpaced as such. Seemed to jump his fences better than his hurdles in any case and can only get better IMO. Great SP today :)

An odd update from ruby on Draconien for this 19/20 novices given willies updates

He got injured last season but is schooling away again now and I actually schooled him myself last week. You’re always cautious about horses coming back from injury but he’s a forward going horse who is a good jumper. When you’re jumping fences there’s usually 12 or 13 fences in a two-mile race whereas there’s only eight over hurdles.

Mullins says something diff on his ATR stable tour.Something about not making it this season. But its Mullins so just backed Tornado Flyer for this.

Olly on Twitter when asked about running plans: “Warwick next week”

Will likely be the 2m beginners Chase Kalashnikov won last year so. Ground permitting obviously given he doesn’t want to empty the tank too early in the calander in the mud.
