Arkle 2020

Mullins says something diff on his ATR stable tour.Something about not making it this season. But its Mullins so just backed Tornado Flyer for this.

As FM alluded to previously he looked anything but scopey over his hurdles I’d have reservations about any improvement for fences.u

Nice start from Summerville Boy there, although looked to get outpaced on soft ground, pace of the Arkle would be a worry.

He did well to win in the end. It's really good to see him get back to winning ways but he was so slow over 2 or 3 fences that I feel he'd be left behind in a strongly run race.

I can't have him winning a grade 1 over fences as things stand.

That Warwick novice chase on Friday TD is being penned in for is a tough starting point I would say, depending which runners line up that are entered of course. Ballymoy who nube negra beat also grand sancy and Southfield stone for Nicholls entered.

Al Dancer is set to return to Cheltenham this month for the Racing Post Arkle Trophy Trial.

The Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained six-year-old won four of his five starts over hurdles last season - including a lucrative success in the rescheduled Betfair Hurdle at Ascot.

He was disappointing when sent off joint-favourite for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March, but made a fine start to his career over fences on his seasonal reappearance at Prestbury Park last month.

Twiston-Davies is keen to step the hugely promising grey up in class at his local track on November 17.

"Al Dancer is probably going to go to the next Cheltenham meeting for the Arkle trial," said the Naunton trainer. "There are 23 days between the two races, and he has come out of his last race well, so we are looking to have a go.

"We will give him a longer break between races later on in the season. He jumped well the last day at Cheltenham and he seemed to really enjoy himself."

Very happy with that. Will give me a chance to see just how good he is, and if he improves on his 1st run, against what should be some decent opposition. Then can either cash for money back, or keep. Depending on how he goes.
A win and he'd be a short fav with 2 course and distance wins over fences in good company.

Do you plan to cash out ?
Do you really think he/they can win an arkle ?

On this as well and hoping it puts in a performance. Just have that feeling with Laurina/melon after how good black op and samcro showed recently that it might put Mullins off sending the best one to the JLT and send it here, with better chance of winning.

If he doesn't win. I'll cash.

I see no reason why not, obviously has to improve on his opening run. As you'd fully expect he would do with race fitness.

should be a good field here, who ever wins, will set standard.

Too early to consider which way Mullins would split his in terms of avoiding opposition.

Melon has better form than Samcro in the book, do you think Samcro camp will avoid Melon?

You'd be hopeful they'll have to clash in Ireland on the way to Cheltenham

Unlikely they will. Samcro will be at 2 1/2. You'd have to think melon would be going towards the Irish arkle, where as samcro will be going toward the flogas. And laurina messing about in mares company (hope I'm wrong)

They can't fluff about with Laurina again can they?
:highly_amused:

They can, and imo they will.
That's why I want none of her, for that reason. Makes me sick when she wins an awful race... and the impending WOWWW SHES A SUPERSTAR!!!!! Posted 5 seconds after beating alletrix 20L on the bridle in a mares chase.

she's progressed since then to beating stormy island :highly_amused:

Is there many mares novice chases in the programme anyway ?
archie might know.

Loads a huge program. Pravaluaguna and the other ricci horse ran in last year. Camellia de Cotte.

definitely be faffing about then I reckon.
Hopefully they surprise us.

The new Benie Des Dieux ;)

Yes, to be fair, Melon and Laurina are unlikely to meet Samcro, I just meant that generally, Mullins' good chasers will meet Elliott's on the way...

Feb? haha

The new Benie Des Dieux ;)

Well that’s just a ridiculous comparison. Benie beat the French mare last year in their Champion Hurdle which is 10 times better than any run from Laurina ever.

Haha, it was more a throwback to scooby knocking my liking of Benie Des Dieux while she was winning some rubbish novice chases.... backing her e/w for the Mares Hurdle that year NRNB and without Apples Jade NRNB.

So she could be the new Benie Des Dieux, quite easily.

In fact, I don't know what you're going on about.

Are you saying Laurina is going to go in Novice Chases and has no chance of reaching BDD's level????

Cannot bet Laurina for anything
Can’t mention the “ L” word in the same sentence as BDD
