Arkle 2020

Yep thats the angle Im taking CoD. Couldn't see him as the winner tbh, but at 33/1, a place would be fine and its hard to know just how good he might be. Suits my approach of making a book on each race.

Not too dis-similar profile to defi if you fancy him.
The Supreme looking poor atm. So I wouldn't knock trying to go outside of the novices.

Im hoping thomas darby and al dancer can do the business in there respective races this week and give the race a bit of a boost. The 12/1 on melon is even looking big atm.

PP seemingly agree. Made some moves in the market. Shortening the likely runners And pushing out obvious non runners

Need to get Melon onside now I've cut Sharjah from the list, tick tock!

Getaway Trump 10/1 joint fav

They are certainly seeing something Im not.

Could be a very informative race on Thursday. Be surprised if OM runs both Thomas Darby and Brewin'upastorm... but Good Boy Bobby, Midnight Shadow and Global Citizen are all entered.

G Trump runs Friday at Cheltenham.

I see Al Dancer is jocked up already for the race at Chelt.

Melon

Last seasons form figures:
442F70

Year before:
1352F

1 win in 2 years, still too short at 10/1 until we see if he's improved for a fence, no?

Melon is one of of those prices that I won’t take now and by the time I see him jump, his price will be even worse.

With regards to form, I think Footpad was winless over the hurdles the season before he went novice chasing.

Could be very informative ,Trump certainly get good write up by Nicholls/Ferguson and seems to have summered well.

And if you look at the two placed horse in his Ayr win last season , Galvin gets a really good mention by Elliott today and Humble Hero big fancy for Skelton in the Greatwood.

He was, but he was kept back on purpose with a view to going chasing.
It's an after thought for Melon.

...and to be fair, Footpad was electric over a fence.... and my point was Melon may well need to be too, if he's going to follow in Footpad's footsteps.

I agree too, too short now and will only get shorter. Which does mean you can make a case it's not too short now but you know what I'm saying :p

Either way I’m happy enough to miss him out and stick with Trumpy.

He's obviously got to be able to jump. But if you watch melon in the CH. Then watch sillver streak against grand sancy, and itchy feet.
It shows the levels they've been operating at, and the gulf in class between champion hurdlers and novice hurdles. Melons crusing speed far outweighs any of the novices, just needs to be able to bowl along on his own terms and jump, and they wont be able to keep with. (If only it was that simple)

Grand Sancy beat Sceau Royal, so I'm not sure he was on top form first time out this season... but I see your point.

I don't disagree that Melon has a higher level of form, it's purely the fact he struggles to win... so until I see him jumping I'm not backing him.

He's a bottle job :p

Draconien still the one, I see you finally got back on board today ;)

I dont like draconien, I avoided him last year, but I had a free bet and wanted something else in the arkle as I believe theres big value to be had. I'll be as happy as anyone if he won the arkle. But would take no credit what so ever. Very happy with the others.

Melon has the potential to win this easily ,however Im not convinced he puts it all in every time he runs. He such a in/out performer , when hes good hes very good.

Southfield Stone beat on debut, looked more down to fitness than his ability to jump, the winner came through nicely after clattering the first fence hard.

Wonder how long before PN has a re-think at Pic D'Orhy is sent this route.
