Glen forsa still 33-1 @ betfred for this race if your interested.... and quick.

Last years Supreme is the perfect example of some horses excelling on heavy ground

Kalashnikov, Summerville Boy

He's a boat. Big huge slow boat.

The betfair hurdle win on bad ground was rubbish.

The Supreme was rubbish. He's been rubbish since ... met one decent horse and lost.

The Arkle might suit him but that doesn't mean he's good enough to win it.

Ask for a justice refund if you're on at 33/1 ... better off buying some tissues to dry your eyes with

He's more likely to win a Gold Cup than an Arkle.

Just accidently leave that there .... :devilish:

He simply isn't a 2 miler. Zero positives to take out of that run from him, for any race though.

Exactly this. Have a 20/1 JLT bet which I had written off but might at least get a run for the money now.

There goes my lovely Coo Coo/Forsa day one double

Jack Channon, assistant to his father, said: "That was very impressive. We've always thought he was very decent. I thought two and half miles was probably his trip, but I've been proved wrong today as he has got enough pace for the two miles He put a very good horse in Kalashnikov under pressure from a long way out and he jumped and stayed, and that won the day in the end.
"I think you would struggle not to look at the Arkle, but he is in that and the JLT and we will look at both and see how he comes out of this race and train him for Cheltenham. Either way we know we've got a nice horse to take to the Festival.
"He was still a baby at Kempton and has put on weight since then. He had a little setback which has tested us and the lass who rides him out every day has done a fantastic job. It is quite an emotional performance really, as we've worked very hard for that."

2 horse race this now for me - Le Richebourg or Cilaos Emery.

Not sure that performance from Glen Forsa should be underestimated.

I'd agree, big performance. Lovely jumping. A player for sure.

I’m a big fan of Glen Forsa - virtually paid for my Xmas, but I’d almost be disappointed if he was good enough to win the Arkle. He was winning over 3 miles at Chepstow 2 starts ago.

That’s not to-dish the horse - he’d be better over 2 & a half miles imo - surely there’s at least 1 or 2 better over 2 miles that could go on to better things - I don’t envisage Glen Forsa bustling up Altior in a champion chase

Bitterly disappointed with that Kalshnikov performance today although not overly surprised. I've really targeted this race since the start of the season with a lot of free bets and before the race today was in a good position with the 4 market principles and even Paloma Blue well covered. Kalashnikov in particular I'd really got stuck into earlier in the season (mainly with free bets) as I thought as long as we was reasonably decent and stayed healthy he'd likely go off as one of the favourites.

After losing to DD I was definitely of the opinion he would struggle to win this race and would likely be better up in trip (as a good few have argued here) so started laying him. Sadly nowhere near enough. Planned to lay off a decent chunk in the week before the Arkle but that won't be happening now. Was tempted to lay him today but thought GF would be looking to preserve his handicap mark. Poor judgement....nevermind onwards and upwards

I won’t make excuses for Kalashnikov today and go along with the general view that last years Supreme form looks horrific, but I was at Sandown today and after heavy rain last week and a couple of very warm dry days the ground was like glue.
Around the parade ring I overheard several trainers and pilots comment on it so it could explain a few poor performances, Kalashnikov (and others) could bounce back...
