Arkle 2019

VDR was out some of the summer- i don't think they considered him a G1 horse at the time.. Wylie even alluded to it on the FFP.

Getabird needs right handed so i presume he was always the one for Punchestown all being well.

No entry yet for CE, but hopefully he will have a few over Xmas (bar the G1)

Normally Mullins good ones are out middle/end of November and that's all been pushed back with the weather.

Might have one at 12.30 today . Won't be long. Same for annamix / blackbow

they normally leave the good mares longer like limini and chante neige already had a run in France with stormy Ireland so they know what they have.

Yeah, I'm aware when they usually come out, and had noted about the weather in other threads so fully aware they are behind.

I guess I was also considering CE's best line of form is at Punchestown, along with the lack of an entry (though with excuses), could lead them to hold him back, as the trainers title will no doubt come down to the Punchestown festival, and if, say, Getabird/VDR are good enough for the Arkle/JLT, why not spread his horses.

Yeah, I seem to accept it more with the novice hurdlers, but less so the novice chasers, not sure why.

The main entry I will be looking for will be the Arkle @ Leopardstown.

I'd say the lack of entries for some of Willies exciting novices is almost guaranteed to be ground/weather related COD. The better tracks over here Punchestown/Leopardstown/Fairyhouse are taking a lot longer to soften up than the lesser summer meeting tracks after the 5 week dry spell we had late in the summer.

Willies already more than half a million ahead of Gordon in the trainers championship at a time when Gordon usually has a clear lead. I'd say even Willie quietly knows he has one hand on the title already and doesn't need to keep horses back for Punchestown.

That's positive.

I'd forgive Lalor (I think this has already beens said).....

but you have to just put a line through the run and hope he bounces back next time.

1. Dynamite Dollars improved out of all recognition and is a huge Arkle player?
2. Lalor underperformed and Dynamite Dollars improved/ran as well - as previously

Has to be 2?

Agree Kev, maybe he wasn't turned out too quickly, maybe he didn't like the right handed track. Could be a number of things. I think its way too early to write him off on one run like others seem to have.

At least now with Lalor, the market could look a lot different by the time he next runs.

Woollacott said in her Betway blog: "I said last week that I was a bit worried if the ground got heavy at Sandown on Saturday for Lalor and unfortunately that was the case.

"We had the same issue at Newbury in February. He just doesn’t like it heavy, but he’s absolutely fine and is having a quiet week now.

"Dicky (Richard Johnson) was very positive that it was some more decent experience for him. On the whole he jumped well, apart from being slow at the third."

Looking to future plans, Woollacott added: "In an ideal world we would have liked to have given him more than just under three weeks between runs, but we now have plenty of time until the Lightning Novices’ Chase at Doncaster at the end of January.

"There’s also a nice gap between that race and Cheltenham, so we’ll be hoping the ground isn’t too bad and he can bounce back to last month’s form.

"We know he's a very good horse and although Saturday was a mild setback, it’s all part of the learning curve and his main targets are in the spring."

Positive that Cheltenham is now right at the forefront on her mind. Should be obvious but nice to see it written down!

I won't be cashing out the 33/1 ew on Lalor ...

Neither will I.

Has anyone backed Defi Du Seuil for the Arkle?

I'm of the opinion he was improved for the step up in trip and that'd also fit the mould of plenty of successful Triumph winners of years gone by....

but the risk-free(ish) 365 cashout means I'm looking at the 16/1 and wondering whether to put it into the book.

Would Le Richebourg being an obvious JLT contender and no other Arkle potential come into the reckoning?
Do we know where DDS is going next?

I don't even like the horse :highly_amused:

I'm on Lalor @ 33's Defi @ 25's for this so really looking forward to see how they get on.

Yes Kev, took 25's on Defi but also took 20's any race

With the b365 cashout option i'd say go for it

Campaedor won nicely in Ireland. He might not make the grade in this race but he's a talented horse when he puts it all together.

Whenever he comes out.

Ffs lol

Yep ! , i backed Defi for the Arkle Kev, The only thing i'm hoping now... L.richb goes j.l.t and D.d.s stays in the Arkle.
But would'nt be too sure.

Cilaos Emery has another entry the same day as the Racing Post Chase, this time @ Limerick over 2m 3f.
