As far as I know, yes. And hobbs mentions as much on the ATR stable tour.
He's also been back to Martinstown for some "magic grass" all summer.

I have had a small bet on D.D. Seuil , IF and obviously it is a big if , he bounces back , 33-1 is a good price .
after all he was Electric the year of the Triumph win , Flew up that hill.

Yep. Not backed him myself just yet, but his hurdle form just as good as Footpad, you could argue.

I know he's been mentioned already and probably going over old ground but 50/1 for Slate House seems a bit extreme.

Brought as a chaser from the PTP scene, he was noted as being the 'quickest' in the yard by Tizzard at one point. I re-watched his runs over hurdles and he was just a frame of a horse, hopefully he has filled out a bit over the summer and can go on to better things over fences.

Have added him today.

My only concern with Slate House for this race is his breeding would suggest he will be better over further and as such may well not end up here after all!

Slate House was also not included in the stable tour, which was somewhat surprising!

Pretty sure he said the exact same thing about Melon.

Think he said Melon looks like a Champion Hurdle horse, or at least that's what I remember him saying, and lo and behold, Melon is his Champion Hurdle horse. He couldn't wait to get Laurina over fences but she stays over hurdles now supposedly :highly_amused:

Basically, just the broodmare value. The risks of going chasing are usually not worth it unless the mare is genuinely going to go up a couple of grades.

When Airlie Beach was approaching the end of her main hurdling season, there was a discussion about whether she should go chasing, stay hurdling or go for breeding. I was against chasing because of her size and age but also because I couldn't see how she could increase in value unless we kept her going for at least a couple of more years with the risk of injury. I would have liked to have tried staying hurdles (she did, after all, have a victory over Penhill in her record) but it was decided to go the breeding route.
We had her down as worth about 120k so she was insured for that and given a few races on the flat. As we managed to pick up a listed race, she eventually sold for 142k. I know that most champions are not sold when their racing days are over but any ex-racehorse is only worth a few grand as a hack if it's a gelding so the risk/reward equation is completely different.

Allowed to dictate in a small field which the arkle usually is i'd. really fancy his chances. Somewhat of a free bet. As he'll hack up in a small field novice. I understand the right handed tho g but he's a year older he's still learning. And he'll do for me.

If they feel Laurina could go all the way over fences then she could still be worth going over them this coming season, as she'll only be 6 when the Arkle comes around, she would win it comfortably I feel then onwards to bigger races, a bit like Shattered Love for Gigginstown.

Genuine question, is their much difference in the broodmare price for a mare successful over hurdles at the top level, as opposed to one over fences at the top level?

If been debating it and looking through It then when they cut it it made my mind up basically. I can fire holes in him as a fav but I'm happy to be on him at this stage.

I saw that too just now. Last night on oddsch . Mainly on b.fair , Delta work out in the n.h.chs
& shortened in the r.s.a . Also Douvan out in C.chs and shortened for R/air.,
plus a couple of others .??

Hard to say because so few mares go to the top over fences. By and large, the younger the mare the better because you only get one foal a year.
The situation is a little different for owner/breeders as the mare probably won't go to the sales and, in any case, the difference in broodmare value would be insignificant to the likes of Gigginstown. Shattered Love has already done more over fences than hurdles but if Laurina is genuinely Champion Hurdle class it's doubtful that even an Arkle win would be worth foregoing that opportunity.

I had a look, I still have it in my mind that he mentioned the Arkle for him before his Supreme run but the only quote I could find from a quick look was "I suppose when I bought him I thought ‘Champion Hurdle horse’ but if you look at the size of him now I think he’s really grown and matured. He could easily jump fences. Let’s see what he does here first."

Yes I'm sad enough to note them all lol. Ducking blackbow / carefully selected ballymore and annamix / felix desjy supreme all cut. Min and douvan pushed out for champion chase.
