Arkle 2018

And Footpad has won over 2m 3f over hurdles, PM hasn't, his one try over 2m 2f he got stuffed!

I'll agree to disagree, there's alot of water under the bridge since then, he was a shell of a horse in a grade 1. And was a poor jumper.

I find it incredibly hard to see him turning over the form with footpad and the jlt as having a very weak fav imo. . All depends what Mr oleary sees.

I think it's also far more winnable for Footpad and even someone like Sceau Royal, but no word of them going for it ;)

Owners the big difference there though.... I'd back it as its risk free and no way he'd be 9/1 on the day? No way he'd be a bigger price than he is for the Arkle that is for sure?

DEpends how much you want to "tie-up" as it is still unlikely.

Theres no reason for footpad to go up he s the fav he's beat PM he dosent need to avoid him.

Beautiful leaps in the first half of the race....
I love how low he is and aggresive.

That was absolutely fantastic. I am absolutely over the moon with that.

Great performance from Saint Calvados there!

Good performance from st calvados. NHH ran no sort of race looked to be outpaced. Cashed out the ew bets on him for a small loss

Aidan Coleman saying he hasn't run on proper soft ground yet in his opinion....so absolutely no worries about the ground.

If that is true.... I'd think he couldn't be out of the frame.... should be shorter than Sceau Royal anyway!

Fingers crossed he gets there now and I get a run for my money!

Hope he wins it for you, even though it would cost me some dough.

Some story that would be, and I'm sure that enough here have a few quid on at big prices, too.

Thanks Tim.

He'd be my biggest win in the race as a single but I would be happier with Footpad winning still for the rest of the week.... (apart from being able to boast):devilish:

Surprised that he's odds on to be honest. I hope he justifies those odds as he'd them have very solid place claims.

He certainly justified those odds, what i saw of the race . great selection Kevloaf , i hope there's plenty on it here . !:)

I'm not able to cash out my N.hh bets , but i think honestly , he'll struggle to make the places now. Unless it was the ground
Or he really is a Cheltenham specialist .

I'd be very confident he diddnt run his race but on reflection his last race wasn't that good either he was outpaced convincingly beaten by SR. I was reliant on his chelt form. But I think his performance when receiving weight from SR is long gone unfortunately.

I thought he was very good yesterday but I've two reservations for Cheltenham.

We've not yet seen him on ground with the word 'good' in the description. I'm sure he won't be inconvenienced by it but you could argue that his superiority has been exaggerated because other horses aren't handling the very soft ground.

As far as the Arkle is concerned, no 5yo has won since the 5lb allowance was abolished.

That and the fact he bombed over hurdles in his 1 start in a competative graded race. Hes well held by footpad on hurdles form who beat the mighty device at auteuil.
However he May well have strengthened up since. And not without a chance if given a soft lead

I understand the reservations about St Calvados and despite turning my nose up at 50/1 decided at the weekend due to his performance and my decent position on Footpad and PM to finally get involved at 8s. Final position for this race stands as:

5.5. points Footpad 11/1 (average odds)
5.5. points Petit Mouchir 8/1 (average odds)
5.5. points Saint Calvados 8/1

Not sure how I came up with 5.5. points, but that's how it ended up ...haha

Very strong hand there

Thanks Ryan, I was happy with my position before the weekend but just got a feeling that SC could be the fly in the ointment. I found it difficult to back him though having ignored the big prices earlier in the season when Kev put him up (mainly because I couldn't find any 100s left). Really felt I had to bite the bullet on this one. It does make it easier to do that if you are already in a good position on a race of course.

Footpad seems to be pretty weak with both BFSB & PP at the moment. Since last week he's drifted from 10/11 out to 11/8.

A Mullins runner, weak with PP & BFSB would make me nervous!

Paddy Mullins said last night that he is “bouncing” and in “fantastic form”. Unless something awry today it’s probably nothing...probably..
