Arkle 2018

SS I just meant improved, I don't think BP will go on to do what SS did :triumphant:

Brain Power looks to be the right favourite tomorrow with enough doubts about FO jumping/getting out paced AND BP being better right handed (whether you believe that or not)....

so if FO can get the job done, I will be absolutely beside myself.

WH have gone 6/4 BP - 2/1 FO

2/1 :devilish:

Its 62/1 Brain Power Arkle - Finian's Oscar JLT

I'm sure people might fancy that before tomorrow

2/1 is plenty big enough for me to be interested in him tomorrow! I do think he's a level above, the only doubt for the festival for me, like pretty much everyone, is the race he contests now! But I have him covered in both, though currently JLT would be my better option, though no disaster if it's this one!

If Mullins had changed the FO plan like Tizzard there would be uproar. Brain Power gone from 4/5 to 13/8. I think that NHH is the play each way and possibly at 16/1 for Cheltenham.

I like NHH myself hopefully will drift a little for tomorrow.

I don't get finians Oscar arkle. I get that he was a bigger price now he's shorter could tun there. .... And I have him well covered mainly anyrace. But what is it that he's done to make you think that he would win the arkle kev? I dont see anything to make me think he wins tomorrow personally.

Just interested how other people see it differently. Of course I could be the one wrong.

It isn't exactly what he has done, it is what I think he can do. I feel like he is the most talented horse in the Arkle market, bar absolutely nothing. I think if he'd have been in the same supreme as PM he'd have beat him, he's a better horse than Footpad for me over hurdles, and just because Footpad made a more impressive debbut, doesn't mean he'll end up being a better horse.

The playing field is levelled somewhat when they go novice chasing and his natural ability for me is more than anything else has shown so he doesn't need to have the 'placed in a CH'.

I don't think we've seen the best of him, and his best might be way too good for anything in the Arkle.

Now in terms of how confident I am for him to win the Arkle, I have always said I am cautious and the JLT will suit more.... but I think FO can be good enough to win races that aren't his optimum conditions.

I can absolutely see the point on a form point of view where you can say he has no 2m or 2m chase form to say he wins the Arkle....but I don't think he's had chance to prove it yet.... hopefully tomorrow is the day..... if not, then I have him covered in the JLT where he's my idea of the winner if I had to pick it now (price unrelated)

I couldn't seen him in anyway beating PM or footpad in a 2mile hurdle on any of his hurdles form. But I respect your own opinion. Wont be long until we find out :)

At least we'll know where FO is heading after tomorrow. A victory and he's an Arkle horse, anything else and I think he'll be in the JLT.

I've said it before, but I love how Colin Tizzard campaigns his horses. He's never afraid to pitch a horse in at the deep end and hopefully his boldness will be rewarded.

Nicky might find an excuse not to run Brain Power now.

Well they both had an extra season over hurdles..... if you stopped FO's career after his 1st season hurdling and stopped PM's I don't think you could be confident one was any better than the other.... the benefit of hindsight lets us I suppose... but for all that PM has gone on to a decent level, we don't know FO wouldn't have!

This thread wil lbe a lot quieter after tomorrow, as we'll know :D :triumphant:

That s exactly how I see it with finians unless its very close. Then They might try 2m again

If anyone fancies him tomorrow they be better of taking the 14s for the arkle.
I wouldn't knock it but likely done your dough if he's beaten by a few lengths.

The 6pts on FO tomorrow will be re-staked on him for this race should he win. Probably won't be playing Brain Power at all, his record, whether over hurdles or not, going left handed is enough for me.

I would also back FO 14/1 Arkle rather than 2/1 tomorrow.

Can't imagine any situation where winning tomorrow would mean they went for the JLT

Saturnas runs at Punchestown on Sunday.

More of a 2m4 horse perhaps Archie?
I had him down for the neptune before something clearly went wrong physically last season

Hard to say although his G1 was 2 miles last season. I think he's one that will fit in where there are vacancies so we need to wait and see how the likes of Bacardys, Bunk Off Early et al go. Probably learn more in Christmas week.

It's my part cover bet I guess, if he wins I can play with the 12pts profit on him for this race, if he loses, yeah I've lost 6pts in defeat but I have plenty more than that covered for the JLT, which I then guess would be his race, also have the slim possibility that he wins tomorrow and he still goes for the JLT, now that would be a right result!

It works out the similar so you're not any worse off, just that is what I'd do because I think about Chelt more than any given Saturday haha.

Your way is more sensible/flexible :encouragement:

Very true, I will happily wince and hold my hands up if he wins tomorrow, it's a top race. North Hill Harvey could be a player

I am liking north hill harvey for this (the arkle ) IF , f.o doesn't run . dan skelton said at cheltenham in october that running n.h.h over further
was a mistake and that he's an out & out 2 miler .

D Day for any Finian's Oscar Arkle backers tomorrow (and I would be one)

Against this field, at a lightening gallop over the Sandown fences this is an absolutely huge test for Finians' Oscar. I don't agree with a lot of the negativity towards Bryan Cooper but he just looks devoid of confidence (as you would expect from his injuries and Gigginstown fallout) and I think that has to a degree translated onto the horse. On a horse like Fox Norton it isn't so much of an issue but on a novice chaser and one who hasn't quite taken completely to fences (so far imo) I think it is a hinderance. So I am delighted to see Robbie Power back onboard tomorrow and see that being another boost to his chances.

Come 13:50 we will know who Footpad and Petit Mouchoir should be fearing most in the Arkle and though I will be extremely nervous throughout the race, I expect Finians Oscar to be that horse and will be very confident in him winning the Arkle
