Arc de Triomphe

I'm going to throw a huge price out there, because he has form ties not far off with horses much much shorter, and that's Sisfahan, who I've just backed E/W @ 100/1 (4 places).

I'm not going to go through all of the form, but you do have to ignore his last run, which I'm happy to do, given the two runs prior to that were solid enough. I'm more expecting for a place at best, than anything else, and he is usually ridden held up, so the hard luck stories are a possibility, but also gives him the chance, if they do go too quick, to run on well and land a place.

Can't knock a 100/1 shot!

There's not actually much obvious pace on though is there? That was one of my first thoughts when looking through the final decs. Obviously anything could change that but there's not too many that seem likely pace angles at first glance.

I've ended up fairly involved with Hukum now from one thing or another. Not completely convinced though so will cover something on the day. Although I'm not too keen on any of them :welcoming:

More interested in the other races on the card to be fair

Been with Hukum for a long time but I'm not happy with the draw and no pace means it could turn into a sprint vs being a proper test of stamina - Hukum definitely wants the latter. Jim Crowley is also a merciless bridle merchant who'll probably want to hold onto Hukum vs doing a Frankie on Golden Horn (which I'd be more than happy with). He could still win and Im confident he's the best horse in the race, but I'm definitely less enthusiastic now than I was a week ago and the market certainly echoes that.

Think there's a good chance he will make the running

No front runners in the race

It could get tactical and ace impact will be at a huge positional disadvantage given he will be right at the back with feed the flame

Hopefully both he and hukum can get a prominent position, that's where you will need to be I reckon

Beauvatier looks very very interesting in the lagadere

3/1 well worth a few quid he's 1111

He managed to beat crack sprinter Ramatuelle (ran a huge race to be second to vandeek in the prix morny) over an insufficient 6f

will hopefully get me off to a flyer on sunday

Like ottery 9/1 and shamida 11/2 in the royallieu on saturday

Ottery would've easily beaten the fav melo melo last time with a clear run

Waiting on the final fields for the rest of Sundays racing
 
Where are you getting 9/1 Ottery? Also one I noted down but couldn't find anyone that had priced it up. Be surprised if she's that big
 
Horizon Dore again tomorrow as well. 15/8 seems fair.

I'm considering adding Bay Bridge. Doesn't seem too popular but could be suited by the race imo. Decent enough price as it is but wonder if I'd be better adding him on the PMU.
 
It's been a very poor betting flat season by my standards so luckily I've ended up making a full book(first book ever) for the Arc. The supplementing of the 2 horses this week has eaten into my profit but at least I can sit back with the guarantee of some return on a race! If I were only to have one bet it would be Ace Impact. I was really impressed by his French Derby win and my view is that he hit the line hard and that a further 1.5f would be no issue at all. That is why I jumped on him for the Arc straight after and my confidence is now higher as tomorrow's ground is likely to be no worse than G/S. The way his trainer and jockey talk about him also gives me confidence as they have won and been placed in recent Arcs.

Agree with FinalFurlong91 that Beauvatier and Horizon Dore are strong favourites and maybe worth using as a roll up attempt on Cheltenham fancies. I've used less risk by having them to place(B365) and then rolling on to some Cheltenham fancies.

Other Longchamp fancies I have are Ottery, Al Husn and Moss Tucker.

It's gonna be good to firm British ground

That's what the turftrax going stick has it at

The French penetrometer says good to soft but I don't buy that it's what we would consider good to soft with the weather they've had

l'Opera today looks a cracker. May lack a proper superstar like but could make a case for loads of them winning. Al Husn is probably last her Yorkshire Oaks running lto but I'm going to give her another chance over the 10f. Might prefer slightly softer ground but it really does look lovely ground for everyone yesterday. Even Trueshan...

Especially with Crowley's confidence up after winning the Arc just before :beguiled:

Can't be getting involved in the abbaye but hope Highfield Princess gets (another) deserved win.

Beauvatier and Darnation for a small Trixie.
 
Cristophe Lemaire on Through Seven Seas will love this quick ground, a fair each way bet/4 places
 
Ace Impact was sick, proper horse. Still don't think it was a good price back then but the ground, draw and ride came perfect.
 
Exceptional winner. Reminded me of Dancing Brave....down the outside. Brilliant acceleration.
Fabre got it wrong!!
