Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle 2018

Tower bridge 20/1 with bet365...just shown improvement for a step up to 2m6f to win a Grade 1 where he galloped through the line. Think the new course, step up to 3m and better ground will bring further improvement.

He'll do for me :very_drunk:

Backing a real battle-hardened horse with plenty of runs under its belt seems to be all the rage for this years renewal, and I can't say it's without its merits. Scarpeta of Willie Mullins', would fit the bill, as he would be making his 16th career start at Cheltenham. Although, the fact that he hasn't ran over further than 2 miles would haver to be a major concern.

In any case, the exchanges would suggest the Ballymore is the preferred target for this 5yo Soldier of Fortune gelding, but this looks by far the more winnable race. He has plenty of experience in big fields, and he won his maiden on bottomless ground by staying rather than anything else to my eyes. Similar profile to Penhill albeit with a lot less experience over hurdles.

Will take a plunge at 25/1 NRNB.

What on earth is Fabulous saga still doing at 25/1!

3 miles in bad ground?

Kevin Blake just highlighted it and I've mentioned him before and I can't believe he's that price.

Grade 1 winner, plenty of runs. Proven in the ground?

Totally agree Kev. I'm just waiting to make sure Next Destination is declared in the Ballymore for Mullins before having a bet on this.

I have just got involved in this race on Dortmund Park for similar reasons. I'm happy to forgive it the last run as something just didnt seem right, it went from travelling all over the field 2 out to emptying like a drain when asked . I think I read its had a wind op since then. Has bundles of stamina, handles heavy ground if it needs too and if Elliott gets on a roll on the first two days, then can see Dortmund Park going off more like 10s rather than the current 20s on offer.

Not mentioned by Ruby at the OLBG preview last night and no liquidity on the fair, immediately made me think that he was re-routing elsewhere/not on the ferry.
I have some nice 40/1 vouchers including some price pushes with Altior and BD, plus I've included him in a lifechanger so he's quite important to my week...

280.0 real steel.
If he goes to Cheltenham he's going for the bartlett. He's been crying out for a trip. And happy to take a punt at that price.

I think Chef Des Obeaux could go off a hot fav for this as I could see Santini coming out on bad ground... two runs only in a fast run AP in bad ground could ruining this horse and Hend thinks a lot of him so I wouldn't be shocked if he becames a NR..

Be shocked if anything's a hot favourite for this race, could make a case for 10 horses if it's a slog. Santini over Chef Des Obeaux all day long for me if they let him take his chance

You're right though, another possible non runner Santini in this ground, especially now Ok Corral has been supplemented to run here

He runs. So it's a start

Apologies santini is in. They gave the wrong list.

Following today's contender for worst priced horse of the festival (High School Days at 8/1 in the mares novice) surely tomorrow we have another one in Chris' Dream (trading around that same 8/1 price). Might be proved wrong but i just don't get it... he's not in the same class of the likes of Santini, Ok Corral (who i increasingly fancy for this), Poetic Rhythm etc

north hill harvey worst priced horse

2 of my early season fancies Dortmund Park and Ok Corral in this

Unfortunately I only backed them in the Supreme/Ballymore so no fancy prizes

These along with Callet Mad any race, I’m hopeful for a good day!

I've plumped with Fabulous Saga and Poetic Rhythm. Best of luck all

Forgot to mention - this was a shout out to a post I did earlier citing the average winning price and how I was going to pick two on the day at big prices

Santini, very strong in the market. Has the best form and many people obviously not too bothered by the experience card.
