Albert Bartlett 2019

Just a personal opinion that this race is gradually changing over the years. When it started it was definitely a race for potential staying chasers but, unless the ground is very soft (eg last March), I'd be looking more for potential Stayers Hurdle contenders. I think this goes hand in hand with the previously noted trend for winners having had a fair amount of hurdling experience.

I’m not sure that’s entirely true as I would still say most years (including last), the placed horses are mainly chasers in the making.

Time To Move On is now a non runner today so my original fear about the ground has returned to bite me in the ass! Why they bothered entering him with the current forecast I’ve no idea.

I see N.H. has nice horse called Dickie Diver he won the same race that Monalee won as a 4 year.
Has anyone heard anything about this horse, his clock was better than Monalee's based on the fact he ran on heavy and Monalee ran on soft.

I’ll check the stable tour but I think he is sticking to bumpers this season. As he’s with Henderson it’s unlikely he’ll be at the Festival this year if they go that route.

You'll probably find he has "immense potential"......every single horse pretty much has + will be very exciting according to his tours....almost like their his children

Yes he’s certainly enthusiastic about every horse :highly_amused:

Backed Monbeg Worldwide on his last 2 runs purely on the basis of how much Derek O'Connor was excited about this horse before his bumper runs. He was 3/3 in bumpers and I had an eye on him for AB last year. I was disappointed when he was beat on debut by Jetz but now it looks a pretty good run considering he has grade 1 form and was in receipt of 8lb.

He had another run that season at 2m and I did not want to touch him at this distance he was 3rd well beat before given the rest of the season off. Season debut was again at 2m and I was waiting for a step up in trip, he has now won back to back at 2m4f, 3m should bring the best out of him.

I can't see any price quoted but if I could get 50/1 I would snap it right up.

Versatile on the Going too Folski , one for the Tracker .

That may be the case JM but the other point Archie makes is very valid, horses with greater experience have a big advantage here.
I think Kilbricken Storm was close to being a trends buster as he was only having his 5th start when the minimum number of runs, I think, was closer 8.
Worth delving into PTP careers too because there may be genuine runners with only a few starts under rules but (although rare) could have had multiple PTP starts and therefore possesses required experience...

Will be interesting to see what you get wuoted

He already looks a chaser, typical giggy horse indeed- almost surprising he was so good in bumpers.

Great shout that Folski, had forgotten his maiden tag was still intact going into this season tbh. He’ll definitely relish a step up to 3m.

Wishful thinking on the price probably? Certainly if it gets requested i'll be half that.

Have to wait for luck :highly_amused:

I'm going to let the dust settle before I request anything.

I'll be keeping an eye on the Royal Bond runners for this race, more so the WPM runners.

Despite it only being a 2m race it does seem to be a good one to follow for this one come the festival

Its not normal for Willie to send his best novice for this race, he likes to see what the others have however if he feels nothing will get near Annamix in may run him.

Sorry for last post I had just been reading the supreme's post and thought I was still viewing that race when I posted this. I would like to add its not a great race to find Cheltenham winners from in my opinion. However if I'm missing something let me know.

I think there have been a few winners and placed horses from the Royal Bond, not necessarily in the races you'd expect them though, i.e. not the Supreme. Champagne Fever was the only horse in the past 10 seasons to have contested the Royal Bond and Won a Supreme.

I haven't run a huge list of previous races but 2 Albert Bartlett winners in the past 5 years came from this race, which is why I posted it on this thread :)

I just think the horse will be a 6 year old next march and maybe a bit old to go down the bumper path. N.H. only said he was one of a nice bunch of P2P horses he received.
