Aintree Day 2 2022

I'll let Jonbon run but really hope he wins as I was a huge Douvan fan.

Bravemansgame looks different gravy to the winning machine L'Homme Presse who could easily be over the top after 5 wins on the trot.
His last race was exceptionally tough work.

That aside I expect all Harry Cobden needs to do is sit tight and wait till 2 out and press go..

Does bravemanagame have the kick thou? I always thought he was more of a galloper

I do think the freshness will come into play and see BMG winning

I know it has been said but there are some ropey grade 1’s. I think the Sefton is awful. Trying to find something to go against Banbridge - not because I don’t like Banbridge, but not at 9/4 or 5/2. Especially stepping up again. Gelino Bello has form lines with Cobblers Dream and should get close. That says it all really….grade 1!!!

I'm surprised Harry Cobden seems to have chosen Saint Calvados over Hitman tbh, despite the former being a lb better according to official and RP ratings. Thought Hitman being a bit less exposed, particularly at the mid range trip, made him slightly interesting. But Fakir does look a very worthy fav and one that's targeted the race again. Just doubling him with Jonbon myself, as I can't bring myself to be against L'homme Presse.

Going to chance Stag Horn in the 3m novice hurdle, which does look piss poor.

Have to do Langer Dan after Cheltenham as well. But not much to get excited about tomorrow is there!

I quite like Fury Road, his price is far too big at 12/14s

Place acca & fourfolds with some outsiders……

Peking Rose (6 places)
Surprise Package (3 places)
Morning Vicar (8 places)
Gentleman At Arms (5 places)
Washington (6 places)

Apart from 2 below par runs at Cheltenham and Aintree last season he's never been put under any sort of pressure
Granted Ahoy Senor had made a bad mistake but without batting an eyelid he went from 1 length ahead to 7 lengths
If Harry had really got after him I am sure he would have found even more.

As good as L'Homme Presse is I reckon BMG will murder him for toe in the closing stages barring accidents

I still am fairly adamant that LHP is gonna get pulled, but pulled the trigger on Fury Road at 20s last night. Was just far far too big

…dry night & a bright sunny morning here in Liverpool.

….read an interesting statistic about today’s Sefton Nov Hurdle being a strong guide to Stayers Hurdle winners. Worth noting.

I'm incredibly sweet on Mister Fisher today.

He's a proper good ground horse (which he might just about get today) and the way he jumped when tearing Eldorado Allen apart at Kempton is being strangely overlooked. I'm forgiving his last run due to the ground - and he was looked after when he was weakening anyway. It's possible he's just a glorified Grade 2 horse, but Fakir had a tough race last time, MF is right there on RPRs and I just think he's a much better jumper this year which in turn makes him a much better horse (cue him falling or unseating today - and hopefully being ok). Anyway, 12/1 is an insult given some of his competitors so I've got him in a few ew multis with other horses that aren't anywhere near as abstract (Broomfield Burg/Langer Dan, Janika and Whizz Kid) and I think just in case I'm right, I'll roll him up with Flooring Porter as it could be my last chance for that one.

Added Henderson double each way.

Fils Doudairies - was a very good run I thought at Ascot first time out for Hendo and just seemed to tire. A lot of use were sweet on him for the Coral Cup.

Mister Coffey - decent in the Kim Muir could take all the beating if taking to the fences, seems in the up over fences.

Jonbon & BMG by 5 lengths or more on Sky @16/1 worth a sniff.

….Specials.

Hills;

Banbridge 4-1

PP;

L’Homme/Fakir 9/2
Langer/Coffey/Banbridge all 1st 5 9/2
Tamarac/Gelino/Severence 1st 5 10-1
Mac Tottie/Banbridge/Whizz 1st 5 11/2

1.45 The Aintree version of the Coral Cup and just as difficult
Cobblers Dream/Some Day Soon/Balco Coastal/Paddy's Motorbike/Navajo Pass/Politesse/Mackenberg

2.20 First Street - I know Jonbon is supposed to be so much better but currently First Street has achieved more on a racecourse thus far for me

2.55 Bravemansgame - Has the combination of top class experience over the distance and solid jumping though any of the 4 are good enough to win a race like this: the race of the meeting.

3.30 The Irish do well in this race and Fakir d'Oudairies ticks all the boxes. Next best are Funambule Sivola and Allmankind but Allmankind is better value for me

Peking Rose 9/1 w/o Langer Dan/ 12/1 e/w 6 places
Vina Ardanza 16/1 e/w
L'Homme Presse but price is too low for a bet.
Hitman 10/1 e/w
Mac Tottie 8/1 e/w 7 places, Francky du berlais 25/1 e/w 7 places, Windsor Avenue 40/1 e/w 8 places
My Bobby Dazzler 28/1 e/w 4 places, Stag Horn 20/1 e/w 4 places
Homme Public 7/1, Red Force One 80/1 e/w 5 places

All low stakes.

Riders Onthe Storm my main bet today in the Topham at 40s. He's on a really good mark of he retains his ability and I think his run style will really suit the race. Also got Mister Coffey ante post at 16s.
