Aintree Day 1

Hasn't looked great, but he has a good form line with Beacon Edge and Petit Mouchoir. For all PM, doesn't win often, you can't argue with his placed form efforts.

I'd be pushed to argue McFabulous has any standout pieces of form, wouldn't you?

Third to thyme hill and paisley park when travelling very strongly but not staying the trip reads very well in the context of this race?

Hes almost 6/1 now on betfair exchange which is very tempting

Who'd have thought Mcfab would of been as big as 11/2 a couple of months ago, he was circa 13/8 antepost for a long time before his substandard 2nd lto. He was well below par lto for me and looked to hate the tight nature and didn't hurdle with any fluency from the onset. There is a few in the race that are prob going to be ridden with a view to seeing out the 20f so could do with Not so sleepy going off hard with JTM not far behind ideally as a speed test late won't suit Mcfab. 11/2 really does look a very fair price on him at what should be his optimum trip and just hope he turns up in a better mood than lto.

No great confidence in these but for an interest

Mister Fisher
Song for Someone
Some Man
Grey Diamond
Where Maud Gone

Jason The Millitant and Eileendover

Just had a bit more on at 8.60 on betfair and on brewinupastorm at 8.20

if he won and I let that go unbacked I'd feel silly

almost as silly as taking 7/2 antepost and taking on the Irish lol

Yeah admittedly it's got a bit more depth than it might of had but it will prob be his best chance of winning a Grade1 in open waters for the foreseeable with some of the talent that has emerged this season for chasing down the line. I'm even contemplating backing e/w with a couple going 4places and him being above 5s now :disgust:

I got involved with a few of these early.

Some Man 10/1 and Sametegal 8/1 in the Foxhunters.

The Red Rum is one of my favourite handicaps of the year. It looks a decent renewal but I've back 3 each way at big prices. Moon Over Germany 14/1, Zanza 14/1 and Sully D'oc 33/1 and 25/1 - I'll be disappointed if they all are out of the frame.

No bet in the Bowl yet but Clondaw Castle, Mister Fisher and Aso are in the shortlist. Did a few quid on Cepage ante post.

I think Abacadabras is a great bet in the hurdle and happy to back him each way at 7/2 or bigger.

Really like the look of Jan Maat in the Red Hum Handicap Chase and 16/1 six places with Hills looks a great bet to me.

He gave Wicklow Brace a couple of decent races as a novice chaser, then was very impressive in winning a Punchestown Grade 3, and all three of those runs came on decent ground. I thought he ran an absolute blinder in the Grand Annual, and was still travelling very well when he hit the front two out before making a race ending error.

After a couple of indifferent runs, he looked to be coming back the right way on Boxing Day, and happy to darw a line throuhg his last run as he hated the soft ground.

Don't think this looks a great renewal myself. Rachael is an added bonus!

It may already have been mentioned but Silver Streak is currently 18/1 e/w at 4 places with boosts with PP and BFSB. He has to deal with the further distance which may result in different tactics from his past 2 runs but that’s a big price for a horse who has achieved a lot than the horses in front of him in the field.

At the moment I’ve backed the following horses for tomorrow
1.45 - Hitman
2.20 - Adajio
2.50 - Clans De Obeux and will probably back Real Steel e/W tomorrow
3.25 - Abracadabras & Silver Streak e/w
4.05 - Sametegal & Cat Tiger
4.40 - Moon over Germany and Getaway Trump

I will also involve Billaway, Eileendover in multiples with Waiting Patiently and Fusil Raffles

If it was over 2 miles he’d be a quarter of the price, but I’d be doubtful about him staying. I’d guess Cobden & Bass will make sure it’s a real test.

He had a run vs both them being out first time....guess it looks in theory his best piece of form, still leaves him with as many questions to ask as Jason The Militant form-wise.......in my opinion anyway. Thought he looked like a serial improver for this season, while he's gone from 145>158, he hasn't quite hit what i expected.

He's only about the right price now for me.

They all have question marks though.

1.45 - Umbrigado 0.5 pt e/w Betfair 10/1 3 places. Also will do forecasts with FR/The Shunter and Umbrigado. I think this is a pretty weak race and Umbrigado looked graded class to me last time out. His record on flat tracks is good and his Aintree run in 2019 when stepped up massively in class was decent.
2.50 - CDO and WP usually find one or two too good. Tiger Roll won't be good enough. Aso has been disappointing at the track. Native River may have had a hard race last time and I don't think Aintree will suit now. Mister Fisher is interesting up in trip but I'll opt for Clondaw Castle. 0.5 pt e/w 13/2 3 places Bet365
3.25 - Song for Someone 2pt e/w 10/1 PP 4 places. Can't see him out of the top 4 and he's more than good enough to win this. Step up in trip will suit as well.
4.05 - Sametegal 1 pt e/w 8/1 (ante post). Has form over the fences and trip will suit compared to some of the others. Tango De Juiley 0.5 pts e/w 20/1 5 places PP. Golden Tobouggan 0.5 pts e/w 50/1 B365 5 places. Both will appreciate the trip and prices are too high.
4.40 - Moon over Germany 0.5 pt e/w 14/1 Bet365 5 places. Precious winner and price was too high
Zanza 0.5 pts 14/1, 0.5 pts e/w 14/1 6 places WH. Will need luck in running but he should be single figures.
Sully D'oc 1 pt win 20/1 ante post 0.5 pt e/w 18/1 6 places WH yesterday. Fancied him at Cheltenham and back down to 2m he will have a big say in the finish.
Joke Dancer 0.25 pts e/w 40/1 6 places WH. Jumping can let him down but decent record on flat tracks and yard in form.
5.15 - Where's Maud Gone 1 pt e/w 20/1 4 places.
Saver On Eilendover
Eilendover/WMG reverse forecast

Good luck everyone.

Good luck all

Every year post Aintree I always think "I should leave Aintree alone tbh"
Obviously I'm not going to do that, but I've reigned my stakes in massively, and making a mental break from Cheltenham strategies (don't need to be covering multiple horses in a race, no need for tons of multiples) to treat it like a bit of fun, like a super charged Saturday

Have gone with

Fusil Raffles
No Bet
Clondaw Castle
Song for Someone
Sametegal
Sully Doc
Where's Maud Gone

Doubled Clondaw Castle and Sully Doc for their related form

Might have a crack atr the place pot with Adagio included

Backed Fusil Raffles & Jason the Miltant in a double and Billaway, Eileendover and Cloth Cap in a treble

I’ve backed Real Steel at 12/1 at 4 places today, I think he’s over due a big race and Bryony may go forward with him earlier than normal (my guess anyway) his stamina should hold up on a flat track and he’s a big price for a place
