2026 Ultima Handicap

Knew Myretown wouldn’t stay with his running style.

Let's hope he hasn't left his race behind today though.

Get that GN bid out their bloody heads now though.

Might be why Lucinda has said NH Chase for KOA.
Yep, looked like he didn't stay but faded very badly. Not sure I'd fancy him now at Cheltenham after that. If I were Derek Fox I'd want to ride KOA in the Ultima off that light weight.

He can ride both if they split them though.

Hopefully she runs them both here and all eyes on Myretown, similar to last year where Whistle Stop was all the rage and King Of Answers goes a little unnoticed.

Wishful thinking maybe but the day to day punters maybe won’t be as clued as ‘racing’ folk.

Yep, Myretown doesn;t look that well treated really, going on the 2 haydock efforts.

14-1 NRNB Bet365 though is tempting.
Will be popular if he lines up.
And wouldn;t want to not be on him, especially if he gets dropped a couple on Tuesday

Thought he was travelling the best in the Peter Marsh before he clattered 3 out. Obv no way of knowing how it would have panned out but I thought he was looking the most likely winner. Today's run was far from ideal though, looked v tired when Fox gave up the ghost.

Hard to be sure, but it's a long way home after three out at Haydock and I'd backed him that day and was not really confident.
Today he didn't help convince me he was going to win the last day.

Might get dropped a lb or two though.

I thought his previous run at the track was actually encouraging with a view to a handicap in mind.

He probably traveled best to 3 out today as well mind. So wouldn't have been too confident when he might have found last time.

Hmm, today’s race was over 3m4f. Last race at Haydock was 3m1f. Not sure he wants that extra distance with the way he runs, it’s the equivalent of running the length of a bloody long par 5 (plus a short par 3) when you’re already at your max. I reckon he’s a 3 miler that has huge potential when the stars align.

A caveat is the trainers, who clearly know him way better than me, presumably thought he could handle the extra distance with the National plan.

Did cut out in a slightly worrying manner though. As a backer, am hoping going back to 3 miles, on better ground, will see him in a better light. Jumped pretty nicely today.

Assuming he recovers in time, I’d hope Lucinda gives him the opportunity to defend his title at Cheltenham. Possibly with a couple of lbs off for today’s run. Derek might opt for KOA and leave young Wadge to ride Myretown again.

His jumping wasn't great again today. Went right through one again and won't get away with that at Cheltenham. So much different to the horse we saw destroy the field last year.

Where did she say that re koa? I thought ultima was more likely.

Good point. She hasn't.

I read the post wrong yesterday. Just had a look. My bad.
No drama, many on here get to news quicker than I do so was just after a steer. Only asking as I’m on for the ultima. Haven’t covered for NH chase, but would if defo going there for sure as he looks a galloper. Let’s see what they decide after Myretown today 🤷‍♀️

I haven't seen any quotes ? Can somebody share please ?

Myretown...

“All being well, we’ll head back to the Ultima," he said. "Hopefully, on some spring ground and back down in trip a little would see him in a better light.

"We’ve got no doubt about his ability and he’ll have to carry a fair bit more weight, but he’s a good horse and we can go back there and he can run another good race."
