2026 Ultima Handicap

Are you thinking Iroko to the Gold Cup ?
No, ryanair, and fact to file gold cup.
However, i think it's more likely they run both (jagwar and iroko) in the Ultima,
prepping for the national really.

Yep, could see that and keep Jonbon fresh for Aintree

On Iroko, Guerreiro said: "All's good with him. JP and his team preferred to go to Cheltenham, so he's going to go there and I'd imagine it'd be for the Ultima. He's already a festival winner and I think he'd have a great chance in it if he went for it. I think Jagwar may go there too, but that's not been confirmed yet."

And johnnywho in there too? His only festival entry.

I'd imagine one of them will go somewhere else just for balance but just guessing.

Would much prefer Iroko to Jagwar.

I'll be surprised if they send both there, personally, not only both being with JP but also the same trainer.

Expecting Jagwar > Plate again now!

Iroko 14s still ante with 365

Imagine he'll be much shorter than that on the day - he's got the class to carry the weight

Could do but he's still in the Ryanair and would have a shout in that if they decide to supplement F2F. All up in the air!!!!

Jagwar still needs a run over 3m to qualify for the National, so think they’ll both run

I think they'll be very tempted by the Gold Cup. I'd want NRNB for this one.

I haven't been following updates on iroko much but if the goal is still very much the national, then i doubt he'd be going for the gold cup too. Doesn't seem to be done too much nowadays to run in both.

No, you're probably right, but I think there's enough of a chance not to take an Antepost price.

Oh yeah I'd definitely want nrnb, wouldn't surprise me if he was supplemented to the ryanair either.

I'd take the bigger antepost prices with a view to at least partially laying off if his price continues to tumble.

Yeah could depend on how Ino and Spillanes are training closer to it

Just took the risk ante, trustworthy people!
It'll depend on fact to file being supplemented.

So hes definitely going for either ultima or ryanair 😂

It's a very good point you make but they may think it's a year too early for the GN with him which would be my opinion as well and JP has some very big chances of winning the GN without having to send Jagwar there as well. A below par Ryanair off levels in Softish ground on the New course would potentially appeal more than humping a big weight in the Ultima going 3m for the first time.

they could go this way

iroko running here is music to my ears as king of answers would get in off 10stone 11 , hopefully Lucinda picks this race but ive still a feeling it will be national hunt chase , hopefully im wrong

I just this minute looked at the race again. Myretown still looks to have a lovely racing weight off 10-13 despite going up 10lbs for last year's demolition. If only he could jump round clean !

Don't think your boy will be running in the Midlands National off top weight for sure.

I think they need to try a change of jockey with Myretown. Go back to what worked in the Ultima last season.

Might happen naturally anyway as Derek might prefer to ride KOA if she sends two there like last season.
