2026 Ryanair Chase

Does he genuinely phone round the bookies confirming a scratching

3 lengths behind Gaelic Warrior at Aintree over 3m 1f having raced prominently throughout entitles him to be in contention for a Gold Cup. Both Stage Star and The Real Whacker who also raced prominently faded completely out of contention. He may not be good enough, he may not stay the Gold Cup trip strong enough, but he has done enough to be considered in an open year. Less than 24 hours ago Fact To File barely stayed three miles according to most people here yet suddenly he is favourite for a Gold Cup.
Beaten by Gaelic with Paddy on should exclude the horse from running in any Cheltenham race to be honest

It's such a needless decision from Skelton, to take right now after todays events.
He's either wanting to make some sort of a statement of intent.
He'll have scared a few off I'm sure.

Or does their lass have to put a lock on the biscuit barrel ?
And he just don't want the temptation.

He's got two good horses for the champion hurdle and Gold cup, and he may well prove me wrong.
But I don't half think he has them wrong this year.
And don't get me started on Kabral du Mathan.

Thanks for the info, managed to cash my roll up with Spillane’s Tower the other week for profit on 365.

Absolute madness as you say, not sure how you can look at the Gold Cup market after results this season and think he’s a chance of even placing
Blame Laila if it's wrong !
Definitely removed from exchange though.

He gave Gaelic a fantastic ride that day. Can often criticise him for some of his rides, but this was one you can't fault.

It was in jest. But that was a solid performance from GD and, to be honest, even more evidence he should be dropped in trip haha

Fact to File winning today and hopefully getting a chance at the Gold Cup potentially brings Impaire Et Passe back into consideration for this?

I know Munir and Souede aren't as Cheltenham driven as most big owners but it's so strange that IEP won the Ballymore with ease 3 years ago and he's never raced at the festival since.

Well if Willie follows his mantra about running a horse in a race he can win, then he takes the penalty kick with F2F in the Ryanair. But I expect that it’s not as simple as that

Yes, the JP factor. It seems to be accepted alone amongst the various high profile owners, JP, and him and his team alone, have much more of an impact into Cheltenham targets. And that's being polite. Not surprising when you just look at his horses and that they are spread throughout so many yards.

I wouldn't be convinced Fact To File wins the Gold Cup even if he turns up, and this is from someone who has just resurrected his 16/1 ticket from the ashes!

I do think Galopin Des Champs paid for his early exertions yesterday, and again, for a chase over 3m, they didn't go a dawdle either. He didn't fall into a hole like Affordale Fury did either, which was encouraging.

Gaelic done well to finish where he did with that man on board. Looked keen, but honestly never looked like they wanted to get him too close to FTF anyway.

Done some of the obvious related doubles etc...

I'm of the opinion they'll split Gaelic & Galopin up, and when I say they, I really mean that's what Paul will want, so it will happen.

Majborough scratched however Energumene left in while removed from QMCC

Gaelic getting a genuine ride and chance to win a Gold Cup may play into things though? 3 pronged Gold Cup attack, like they've just done, worked out pretty well

If I had to say where Gaelic Warrior was running right now, I'd guess Ryanair .... but will be zero surprise at all to see Patrick on him on the day, with Mark on FTF and obviously Paul on GDC

Who cares about what he rides in the Ryanair :ROFLMAO:

Paul does

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
and he'll get bitch slapped and popped on Energumene so Patrick can romp to Gold ..... after the National, that's all that is left

Ricci won't need much convincing

and Paul ain't Ruby :devilish:

Given his advanced age and gradual decline in form it is not guaranteed Energumene will head to the Cheltenham Festival, where he has twice won the Queen Mother Champion Chase, with connections more inclined to lower their sights slightly at this stage of his career.

“Paul said he just struggled to keep up with the horses in front, going down to the third-last I thought we were in a great position but Paul said he didn’t have much more to give,” said Sean Graham, racing manager to owner Tony Bloom.

“He still has plenty of enthusiasm, but his old legs just don’t move as quick as they used to.

“I could see us giving Cheltenham a miss with him now, and because he didn’t win last year and he hasn’t won this year he doesn’t carry a Grade One penalty.

“He could probably go to a Grade Two or a Grade Three at Fairyhouse or Punchestown, we might try him there, but I think the days of him running in Grade Ones are probably over.”

Unibet have made their minds up re Gaelic and F2F

Sounds like IEP may actually show up here. First time out?

“Impaire Et Passe is grand and he likes the nicer ground and at the moment it’s all a bit too soft and mucky for him. We want to have a nice spring with him so we want to keep him fresh and well for then.
“Good ground is key to him, he enjoys that and he’ll have options at Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown
“He’s anything from two and a half to three miles and I think he will definitely stay, but I imagine he would start off over the intermediate trip and then work his way up.
“We would be hoping we could get him to Cheltenham and something like the Ryanair could be right up his street. There is then a month from Cheltenham to Aintree where he won last year and then a smaller gap to Punchestown, but those spring festivals are where we want him racing really
