2026 Novice Hurdlers

Couple of Form lines in the Formby.
The second behind OPS at Cheltenham is there.
Also one just behind Sinatra who finished 2nd to AOI is there.

Depends how Mydaddypaddy is travelling, Skelton will do his usual I imagine and if he's able to will win by as little as possible, which means we'll end up with no idea on the actual form lines.

At least OPS was pushed out and ridden to go clear. Skelton won't do that if he can help it.

Aye, Hendo is desperate for them to be unbeaten heading until Cheltenham. Was always ducking that challenge.
Fucking pathetic isn’t it? Irish racing is miles ahead in that respect. Don’t have too much racing, most win a maiden then go Graded route etc. No wonder most owners with deep pockets head over there for trainers.

Yep, I can see that.
Be interesting though if that’s not the case and Paddy has a battle.
Whatever, it does add a bit to a race with a short priced fav.

Whilst I like good races throughout the season, I do also like a bit of unknown come March.
If we have a few unbeaten ones line up in the Supreme I would be quiet happy and quiet excited!!
There always is as the Irish race against each other in Ireland but the British don’t in Britain. It’s shite, just call it what it is.

we could do with a couple more graded races, only have 1 grade 1 before Cheltenham.
At least the Donnelly’s and JP still have horses here, lose them would not be good.

some might say it’s better for the festival if horses avoid each other until then.
I do get your point though.
Can get very frustrating.

He's so well he did two canters, not just one,but two,it truly is silly season.

Having more graded races will have the opposite effect

You not think we might get more owners thinking about coming here if more decent races for their young horses?
There's too much racing in the UK. Ireland have much less and it's no wonder they have competitive racing across the board.

Adding graded races just means they'll have more opportunity to dodge. There's so many graded races that a horse like Act of Innocence could run in for example - he's just choosing to go an easy path

Or they thought a sharp course wouldn't suit a tall leggy novice, also a long journey to Aintree might not something connections wanted, not when Newbury is very local to the yard, maybe the horse isn't a good traveller, could be plenty of reasons behind decisions, best to just focus on who runs I reckon.

Absolutely there’s too much racing, no argument there from me.
Horses dodging races is an owner or trainer mindset and yes will always go on because of that mindset.
When it comes to attracting horses to be trained in Britain though, I don’t think it would be a bad thing to have better races for their young horses.

Fair points.

Henderson clearly stated he’d prefer the easier race to keep the dream alive
Or words to that effect
The stable tour comments were clearly vague enough and non commital enough to almost be bullshit

Honestly prize money increase would do the job, the bigger owners aren't really bothered about prize money, most are in it for the sport, but newer owners or syndicates will have an eye on the ROI, hoping they can make a good year with a nice horse pay, not many do, the margins are too tight, I do the EBF, Pertemps initiatives, the win at *Insert course* then go onto win at Cheltenham for a nice bonus are good ideas, maybe we need more along those lines, its tough to work out as if you exclude bigger owners/bigger yards some get a bit agro about it.
I'd do away with a lot of racing too,but thats a conversation I'd rather have offline over a drink or two,my fingers are incapable of keeping up with my gob :ROFLMAO:

So he doesn't want to overface a novice at this stage of the season, sounds like a sensible trainer to me, I mean you can undo all that early work by asking them to do too much too soon, maybe another race will bring him forward enough to go into Graded/Grade 1 company next time out, time will tell as maybe he wont be,or maybe he won't be good enough, strong enough this season for that kind of test.

I have no problem with what they choose to do
The comments are really to demonstrate to the disappointed people who thought he might declare for Aintree
The clues were there.
