2026 Novice Chasers

To be fair, that's just one summary line from a more substantial article.

Even that article would have been a precis of what was actually said.

He’ll still be 147 over here….
You'd imagine so if common sense is applied and the handicapper is treating all connections equally.

But I've seen strange things happen when it comes to jp horses.

Apparently, average chase rise is 2.1lb. Job done!

I liked a comment I saw on X about the wallpark being center stage for the real JP gamble going on in parallel so it diverts attention. It sounds more fairytale than realistic but hey it sounds like X slop to be fair. But worthwhile thinking about it... Haven't we seen that once or twice over the last few years?

There's no big money gambles going round at this stage anyway, it's money for peanuts. I said in another thread that it could be similar to when Percival Legallois was favourite for KM, got mullered and they sent IKTWUT instead who crept in. He was punted into favourite not long after, but it wasn't for big money from JP. He'll have had enough on the day mind

Up there with one of the most pointless comments in horse racing - alongside 'they've summered well'

Has anyone ever said 'ahh look if I could swap him, I would!'
Really?? Can it not be that he really thinks Wendigo has a serious chance in the BANC? And why not? The others aren't exactly bomb proof.

If he didn't think he had a very good chance of winning would he not just say he deserves a crack at the race ?

Never really take much notice of owners.
Having been part of a syndicate in the past, I think it sensible to leave all that stuff to those that know what they're talking about.

Indeed, I like the enthusiasm he's showing for his horse, but I reckon Danny might be blowing a little bit of smoke up his hole here.

The Wallpark could maybe run in the National Hunt chase, which is the best race I would say. To be honest, we're not even sure he's going to go, we'll see what happens.

Kim muir it is then 😂

Or is this the bluff that precedes the double bluff?

I'm guessing the "we're not sure he's going to go, we'll see what happens" is a hint to the handicapper that if they don't get the 145 they need then he won't go.

Update on twitter:
Punchestown's Beginners Chase on Sunday with a distance of 2m6f205y does not satisfy the 'Top 4 in a Chase over 2m7½f+' condition for the NH Chase.

❌ This means BALLYGUNNER CASTLE, KISS WILL, SHUFFLE THE DECK & SOLDIER IN MILAN would not qualify.
