2026 Novice Chasers

They've gone some clip.

Just had a look at the speed gun figures.

The Juvenile Hurdle for the first mile went between 26mph to 28mph, that Irish Arkle they were clocking 29mph to 31mph, mostly sustained at between 30mph & 31mph.

Between 1m - 1m4f the juvenile race were still only around 28mph - 29mph, the Irish Arkle was still between 31mph & 30mph.

By the end, no surprise, the Irish Arkle were crawling at 25mph, the juvenile hurdle between 29mph - 33mph (at one point).
The type of race you look back on after cheltenham thinking those horses left their season behind in the race before

Its what i felt watching BDA and lossie yesterday too

Going hard on that ground needs an iron horse to be back to its best and primed in 5 weeks time

Good watch. Has to be a concern they have left their race. Interesting Kargese ran on again at the finish. I think she idled in front also. No hurry to back her at a single figure price though if Kopek ruled out and Romeo goes further then she is obvious 2nd fav. Could be time to start thinking outside the box.

Plenty have mention it, but it’s similar to last year with Romeo - just too many runs

He’s had two very tough races now, back to back. I’m pleased they’re running him in all these races but I’m struggling to see him as a selection for March

I backed him for the BANC, will leave the bet and may switch it out for NRNB at some point but… can’t see him performing come March - has done far too much

Just backed Kappa Jy Pyke 25-1 arkle.
as I'm typing Segal mentioning him also.
Obvious form frank today and the type that could well be staying on at the finish in a strongly run arkle.

Backed him 20/1 NRNB, rather than risking him not turning up. That was before today's Irish Arkle.

Could run into a place, especially if the pair today are feeling the effects of that effort.

Lulambas to lose imo. Those two today won't beat him and too many negatives re Kopek. Worthy fav ATM.

Soldier In Milan is a horse who I’ve been thinking might be being given the Inothewayurthinkin build up to the festival.

Has never run over hurdles and then bombed out on chase debut. But was still given a BANC entry. Ran well NTO without setting the world alight when half a length fourth to C’est Ta Chance in a King George-esque finish. The form would be nowhere near that required, but I do wonder if he’s being brought on slowly with one day in mind. It’s Emmet after all.

The form of his sole bumper win is working out nicely. He beat King Rasko Grey easily who was just touched off in the Grade 1 at the DRF. Cathchintsavo looks useful having recorded his maiden hurdle win at Ludlow last time out. Riskaway and Conman John were in 4th and 5th and look above average hurdlers. Espresso Milan was 7th and won the O’Grady Memorial race. Sticktotheplan was 8th and won the Persian War.

He could be being plotted for a handicap. But Emmet likes to aim big and the timing of the BANC entry, after PU on debut, piqued my interest.

In what’s looking a more open race, I wonder if he might be a long shot worth having on side. It’s a wild swing … but hopefully not without some merit. 150/1 is worth a dabble to me.
