2026 Novice Chasers

He's just got a Ten Up entry. The all important 3 mile distance. If he finishes top 4 there he'd qualify for the NHC. I've taken 33/1 (without NRNB concession).

Same ownership as Backmersackme, but I know who I'd prefer.
He was pulled up a long way from home on his chase debut. Will that be counted as a run?

Remember hearing something before about them needing to jump the third last for it to to count but I don't know if there's a strict rule or they just make it up as they go along, in which case it might count.

I’d thought he needed enough of a run for the handicapper to assess him rather than it being a set distance?

Fair point though. He was pulled up 5 or 6 out.

I was trying to remember something from last season that fell or was pulled up half way through one of its qualifying runs but can't, so I'd have to go through them all to find out and can't be arsed.

I don't think there is a strict rule I think it's fairly ambiguous, just remember hearing people saying you'd generally want them to get to somewhere around the third last or something, but they may just decide he got far enough to judge 🤷‍♂️

Pretty sure it's at the handicappers discretion. So vague as fuck

I could be wrong, but if that is the case, I'm not sure the horses connections would do you any favours. Would strike you as the sort of trainer the handicapper might be a bit stricter with.

Whats this about sixmilebridge getting +1 from the hcapper only. Does it really tempt fergal for a handicap ? I think there is even a video of a handicapper going around this evening talking about the race and his rating adjustment. Am i reading into this to much and hes going with the big boys?

The criteria are as follows:

1) A runner has to have 3 runs. A run constitutes starting an event. Whether you fall or pull up early is not relevant for this part.
2) The handicapper has to have sufficient evidence to award a handicap mark. This is at the handicappers discretion. In all but exceptional circumstances two relatively close up finishes would suffice.
3) Need to be placed in first 4 over 2m 7.5f+

Assuming he finishes in the first 4 and isn't tailed off I would expect the handicapper to give him a mark.

Yeah I'd say he's probably alright then. Would still be a bit wary of putting a lot on the bigger ante post prices though, just in case the handicapper has a dim view of emmet mullins reputation.

I just backed Wade Out for the Ultima @ 25's.

Got the C&D form and now Sean Bowen may want to ride the Emmet horse it would make sense.

Not sure who his allegiance is too?
He'll not jump off Wade Out imo. Been the target for a long time. Won at Cheltenham. Has beaten Wendigo over insufficient trip which has turned out very good form, 3m 6f will be perfect, he eats up the hill and he and Olly have a fantastic relationship.

Good work. Yeah that was a competitive race LTO too, so a top 4 in the Ten Up should be enough evidence you’d hope.

State Man was the only one I could bring to mind. He fell much later in the race (2 out), but certainly before it had developed.

Didn't realise Wade Out was dropped a pound after his last race which Sean executed to perfection to keep him within the 145 ceiling. Imagine what price Wendigo would be off that weight!!

Sean has worked so hard to get Wade Out into the race off his current mark. He could quite easily be running in the BANC and wouldn't be without a chance but the NHC has always been the plan. I think he's a cracking bet .

Wendigo is only rated 147.

Steel Ally 25-1 B365 NRNB looks worth a poke before he runs Saturday.
Already rated 150 and I doubt they go arkle unless he wins Saturday.

Yep, imagine what price he'd be if he was running off 144 in the NHC

Take a look at the horses that finished behind Wade Out at both Worcester and Cheltenham. Both races have worked out very nicely.

Backed him after his last race on the exchange
Might have a little top up, cheers.
Also will look at wtaf prices.
Be interesting to see which race he runs in on Saturday.
Think I would prefer the Warwick race against novices, although he is an 8 year old.

I can see Lulamba going Warwick this weekend

Calico is in form after two wins and only has the Newbury entry this weekend. I’d imagine they’d want to bypass him as he can be a very tough cookie to beat

A lot of rain due towards end of the week….

I’m on Lulamba but feel I need to start getting 1-2 outsiders covered lol

He's a bit of a Giraffe though.
Warwick won't be ideal either.
