2026 Novice Chasers

Sound silly to be saying this after he's just gone and won a G1 easily but Lulamba just emphasised he's not a 2 miler for me and won't be winning an Arkle imo(although I have him covered). I just think there will be better jumpers and faster horses in the Arkle such as Kopek for a start.

Aye, Kopek should be clear fav and is still the most likely winner clearly. Romeo and Lulumba both ideally want further. And are probably inferior horses anyway.

Out of all the short prices at Cheltenham. Kopek is the one I would back first

not a shock that 3m is getting mentioned for Romeo
He’s clearly versatile with distance
As Lobos says ground could decide, but for me he’s the most likely winner of whichever race he turns up in,so very happy I’m covered for both, albeit not as much as I would like to be !!
Romeo may be they classiest looking jumper we’ve seen, I just have concerns about him fully seeing out 3m, he travels so powerfully. Also question his speed for 2m, ryannair 2027 winner for me

Seems unlikely that coolio goes 3m this year tbh, I wouldn't back him for anything at Cheltenham. Kopek has his measure over 2m and 3m may stretch him and has final demand in the way

Just watched the Navan Beginners Chase and thought Predators Gold and Slade Steel were both impressive. Not sure how fit each were as first time out but potential BANC contenders? De Bromhead also going through a rough patch as 0-40.

I was thinking handicap with Slade Steel who’s now had 3 runs over fences but still a maiden. Problem is how much improvement is there left over fences? Granted his 2 starts last year, was beaten by good horses in form at the time and then carried the form through the spring. I’d have liked to see him win today if he was going to prove up to anything graded over fences.

Of course I might be wrong, but until I see a horse jump as well and he gets beaten at 2m or 3m I’m happy to have my take on him.
I am a tad concerned with 2m after. Watching Lulamba, and I can see him maybe stepping up to try 3m, but if connections go 2m I woukd take that as a fair indication for his target in March and be confident of a big run.

It's a long way home at Cork on Soft to Heavy.

Kargese is very keen, has been beaten on her last two seasons reappearances.....heavy ground ..... She's gotta be a lay based on this

She is by far the best horse in the race though. Class may prevail.

Kala Conti probably not being given enough credit.

She's a proper live one wherever she goes, IMO.

Kargese will have excuses, of course, but supported well enough today and in the AP markets.
