2026 Novice Chasers

not a shock that 3m is getting mentioned for Romeo
He’s clearly versatile with distance
As Lobos says ground could decide, but for me he’s the most likely winner of whichever race he turns up in,so very happy I’m covered for both, albeit not as much as I would like to be !!

Well if Final Demand is going to Limerick and Kopek is obviously going 2m, the potential clash will be with Jimmy over 3m at Xmas you would have thought.

Edit - don’t think there is an Xmas 3m race actually.

Yeah 3m at xmas is gone

Owner said Romeo won't go to Dublin, so the race he runs in at xmas is likely the pointer.

I think they might come to Sandown (scilly isles) but this race clashes with the Dublin racing festival this year so would potentially have jockey issues, unless Gordon ducks Dublin with most of his, which has happened before.

If FD goes for the Faugheen then that would be Romeo's best chance of beating him . Would be good as we might get a little drift on FD then for the BANC.

Owner of Romeo was saying Limerick was the most likely target over Christmas, that'd indicate the 2m route, of course as we've seen with the Champion hurdle only takes one injury, one poor run and suddenly all possibilities become available.

His options at xmas are 2 miles 1f at Leopardstown or Limerick 2m 4f thereabouts.
So id' say Limerick would leave things up in the air

Limerick 2m5 1/2 now

If they went Limerick, would be definitely thinking 3m

Was Kempton not mentioned for him at one point?

Ah, I see a 2m1f novice chase on the 26th last year, didn't check if it was a graded race or not.
They'll decide last minute anyhow, its just how trainers operate now...well some trainers.

Lulamba some engine considering some sketchy novicey jumping!

…..Lads cut Lulamba to 2-1 Arkle.

Well the Skeltons tried!!

Serious horse Lulamba, got some scope!!
That jump at the last!!
Yeah little sketchy early on but some good jumps as well, especially when race quickened.
Impressive.

Nice performance

Made the rest look like what they are, handicapers.

Went some lick, still room for improvement on the jumping but it'll come, Romeo still sets the standard for me.

Yeah I’ve been touting Romeo, but I’m a tad concerned for him speed wise after seeing Lulamba.
Possibly might be better off stepping up in distance now I’m thinking.
Very interesting though this season with Kopek as well Of course and imo some darn good BANC types.

Ultra impressed with that. He's very good. Should be clear fav.
Should be closer but not fav I wouldn’t have thought. Kopek beat 145 rated hurdler on the bridle on chase debut 13 lengths. Lulamba has beat similar rated hurdlers who all had chasing experience today 9 lengths, getting 6lbs.

I’d say the market has it about right considering Kopek will likely improve as Lulamba has done.

Any thoughts on Predators Gold who makes his debut over fences tomorrow in what looks a pretty hot beginners?

The current going should absolutely suit him, so see him as a big threat to Slade Steel, and even more so IF they have handicap plans for him!

Only a couple of bookmakers have him priced up, so would be nice to get some that offer cash out too.

Done it well from start to finish.

Will relish 3m, even more so if conditions go his way (softer the better).

Willing to give Lulamba benefit of the doubt over the first couple, and showed a good turn of foot. However, Skelton set it up for him, and would want to see another round of jumping before considering, made a few strange shapes to me, plus I’ve been burned by backing 5yos for the arkle too many times before 😂😂
