2026 Novice Chasers

Elliott and the owners will not give up a chance at the arkle IMO.
Unless he has his arse handed to him by something trained by Mullins before we get to March, then they might duck.

He looks the perfect arkle type to me. Stamina, enough speed, strong traveller, efficient jumper etc.

Not backed him though.
He's running in the usual Gordon Elliott early season benefit races.

Totally agree. Not backed him either but definitely will. He looks a lot more straight forward than Kopek based on their races.

I prefer Romeo in the BANC over the arkle

If something was to happen to Kopek, I’d have this lad as distant fav for BANC
On ground like this year who knows. Would suit him over FD.

I can’t believe that they won’t give Romeo a go in the arkle. But I’m pretty sure that they’ll avoid both kopek and final demand prior to the festival.
Wayward lad?

Got the Moriarty at Dublin Festival over 2m 5f which he won with Mighty Potter. Expect he will go for that over the Irish Arkle. Could well mean Final Demand rather than Kopek.

Surely that depends on his Cheltenham target? No chance he’d take in 2m5 5 weeks before an Arkle.

He’ll all but certainly got to the festival I’d have thought. Those boys seem to love it.

Some Arkle match-up that. Hope they avoid the DRF and they both get there unblemished.

Everything else is playing for places. My book might end there. I was going to add Be Aware and July Flower. Still might but doesn't seem much point other than a mishap.

Pity the Turners has gone but i am in the minority that the Novice Chases are now better. Any genuine mid trip horse can go elsewhere, either up or down in trip or Aintree/Fairyhouse. It's been a dead duck for a few years that race in terms of field sizes and competition and i thought last years race was spot on. There are some good horses that could already be being aimed here, i have Kalif Du Berlais, Koktail Divin, Lucky Place, Regents Stroll and Taponthego all as potentials so far. That list will expand as the season goes on and should be a full field again.
