2026 Novice Chasers

Always nice to get a big boom when you bang the drum.
Did it well Arch. Will be even better over further and on Softer ground. Super jumper.

If they can get Regents Stroll to switch off early he could be a proper one, if not I wonder if they might go the same route as caldwell Potter last season.
Winner did it very nicely, anyone already on you've a live bet for march (y)

Yeah lost the race early on, but jumped really well and stayed on well considering.
If they can get him settled he’s a big threat wherever they choose to go with him.
Wendigo is a goodun.
Jumped and travelled well.

Wendigo back in the game. He doesn't win the BANC but we should have a live docket heading in.

I must say.... Regents Stroll is a superb jumper and not one to write off if that race has taken the freshness out of him. He would be one hell of a bet in the JR Novices' Chase. Give him a couple more very difficult tasks and then let him rip.
Think the winner has a good a chance as any I’ve seen thus far for the BANC.
Certainly jumped as well as any I’ve seen.

Few more to come out but Final Demand looks as clear as Fact To File did at this point.

But strange things happen at Cheltenham. 1 scruffy jump at the last can change everything.

Yeah that’s the majority opinion it seems, certainly with the bookies.
I’m not so sure.
I’m happy taking him on, although with caution!!!
Funny ol race the 3m novice.

Anything can happen. He never looked completely happy this year in the Turners so perhaps he wasn't enjoying Cheltenham?

…..P Mullins;

You have an interesting ride on Saturday with Jimmy Du Seuil going over fences at Fairyhouse. What sort of chaser are you hoping he's going to make up into?

He’s schooled well at home an was obviously really good in the Coral Cup last year. He has some good novice hurdle form behind the likes of Ballyburn too.

But it’s a tricky race. The Big Westerner is a fair mare and giving her seven pounds won’t be easy. Henry’s (De Bromhead) horses are generally ahead of ours at this time of the year. I was looking back to this race on Thursday and while we won it with Impaire Et Passe, last year, Nick Rockett was fourth in 2023 and I Am Maximus second the year before.

Good horses of ours can get beat at this time of year but I’m hoping he’s ready. His work after racing at Punchestown, under Sean O’Keeffe, went well and fingers crossed his class will get him through. But I wouldn't be too concerned if he does get beat. Like I said, we've had good horses beat at this time of year before.

I see he is doubling down on the horses getting beat first time out is not a worry. Any top horse that comes out and wins first time up has got to be marked up a la Anzadam and Sortudo. You would imagine the lesser horses would be a little more trained for their first races so hope isn't lost if one of your fancies has been beat. I changed my way of thinking on this the year Ballyburn was beaten. I backed him again, the only problem was that i also backed Tullyhill and a host of others again too so didn't end up any better off really. Just another learning curve searching for the 28 race immortality. If Jimmy is ready and Patrick gives him the ride he gave Gaelic at Aintree then he is in good hands.

You do have to consider the type of horses they are as well, a 3 mile chaser should always take more getting fit than a 2 mile hurdler, or mare/juvenile for example.

Here is one for the ultima , king of answers trained by Lucinda Russell just beat a neck in his point by wendigo , was off the track for a year and has been brought back slowly , I know he was 5th of 5 in his chase debut but wasn’t far beaten on a trip far from ideal , will stay 3 miles 2 furlongs all day long , in fact would have won over this distance at the Perth festival if not over jumping the last and be very Interesting how it gos next time out , he could be a huge price right now for the ultima

Appeared in the early stable tour (ATR) but not mentioned in the subsequent RP or SL tours, could be there;s been a setback ?

Can’t wait to see The Big Westerner over a fence today, gut feeling if there’s one to put it up to Final Demand throughout the season it’ll be herself.

If she can rival Final Demand on ability, they'd think she's a good thing for the mares chase wouldn't they ?

Jimmy Du Seuil looked immaculate there and he's definitely got an engine. I think he could be a real challenger to Final Demand. The Big Westerner for the Mares Chase I'd say after that.

Not sure the mares is enough of a test unless the ground was bottomless, though may not stop her running there
