2026 Mares Hurdle

Nice line about Doctor Steinberg if you’re a backer.

No excuses offered by Nolan, just ‘disappointed’ to have been beaten at Navan. Sounds like they know they’ve got a good one and were surprised to be beaten by one of Willie’s less heralded ones. Saturday will be interesting.
Form line gives Kovanis a Martin pipe boost too...that navan grade 2 was used by better days ahead too before his Martin pipe success.

Ruby on JDG....

She’s probably not a big enough price, but ultimately Jade De Grugy was second here last year to Lossiemouth, well beaten in second place, but I wouldn’t be shocked, depending on where Lossiemouth ends up.

If Lossiemouth did end up Champion Hurdle, Willie’s going to have a runner in this and I wouldn’t be surprised if she came back from fences, whereas Kargese, I’m not sure you could see her getting the trip on the New Course.

Maybe on the Old Course she might have, but I would be more thinking Jade De Grugy.

Time to get stuck into panic attack for this?
Will spindle berry and JDG turn up?
Is Kala conti over the top? Is dinoblue still as good?

Wrong thread but fully agree. She wins imo.

Just watched at the races stable tour of Gordon Elliotts and Wodhooh still has her back leg bandaged up, has being since before xmas and during leopardstown at xmas. Has to be bit of negative that they still have it on, must have being a bad enough cut.
Could it have opened again, or got infected, or is it just precautionary?

This close she must be a doubtful runner

Suddenly jade would be a short priced fav...

We are well and truly into silly season haha

Yard hasn't mentioned anything about it, i just saw her in the video. Find it strange it's still bandaged. If it was bad at xmas, they wouldn't have ran her. So you'd be think it was nearly cleared up at the time, but its still bandaged 8 weeks later?
Im assuming its precautionary, just protecting against infection, and I wouldn't have a clue how long it would take to clear up. Hoping some reporter at these stable tours asks about the strapping.

A deep cut would take awhile to totally heal, I'd say its precautionary to guard against anything getting into the wound, horses heal inside out unlike us, easy for something to enter the wound on a yard (y)

Yeah this is it. Gordon said in his Sporting Life interview that it’s the Leopardstown cut which is almost healed and the bandage is just keeping it clean.

Gordon says his Nap of the meeting is Wodhooh!! With or without Lossiemouth.

Lossie shortening back in for this. Hopefully the sporting life stable tour clarifies some of the mullins bingo

….Jamie Codd;

What’s your Cheltenham Festival nap?

It’s Wodhooh in the Mares’ Hurdle, whether she faces Lossiemouth or not. Regular readers will know I’ve always been fond of this mare. She’s shown her liking for Cheltenham twice, and I’ve no doubt she’ll continue to improve. She has a couple of lengths to find with Lossiemouth, but with another year behind her, I think she can turn the tables. I saw Matt Chapman say Lossiemouth would eat Wodhooh for breakfast on the At The Races Cheltenham Preview Night. Not for me, Matt!
