2026 Mares Chase

For those of us that want Jade De Grugy to come here, guessing we want Lossie to get beat this weekend?

Also, if Spindleberry goes well and gets directed to the Gold Cup, that must surely help. I think JDG is improving run by run and would give Dinoblue plenty to think about
I’m hoping spindle gets soundly beaten at the DRF. She’s a massive winner for me here, but surely one of spindle or JDG comes here with a big shout.

Not sure why you think today helps Jades chances? Being a backer of Jade I'm not happy that Spindleberry more than likely comes here now.
Excuse for Ricci to shit himself and run Lossie in the mares means more chance she ends up here and whilst Spindleberry was well out her depth, it's hardly an ideal Chelt prep for her

Pulled up some way out can't be a good prep for the race, even if a drop in class. Very few graded winners at the Festival had pulled up on their last start.

Danny gave her the perfect ride she lacked fluency today, slightly outclassed IMO he nudged away for a bit and then just pulled her up. They must’ve said unless you have a good chance, treat her gently. The mares is a miles weaker race than the race today.

Just an educated guess, but I'd say they weren't trying with spindleberry at all today. Just trying to keep the owner happy I'd say and trick him into thinking she's not ready yet, as it suits willie best for her to go in the mares. So I wouldn't be that worried myself.

My sentiments entirely, in fact I'd be surprised if it was otherwise.

I'd probably say so too. But i'd rather not rock up at Cheltenham on the back of it if I was in her camp

“She ran fine at Leopardstown, probably a little bit disappointing. Might have just been that the ground and that trip might have just put her out a little bit. She was winging fences and she seemed to tire there. I thought she was going to win turning in but she seemed to tire before the last.

“Looking at the Arkle now you’d be leaning towards the Mares’ Chase but we’ll keep an eye on the Arkle and just see. I thought she improved actually for the drop down in trip. Over two and half at Limerick I thought she was incredible that day.

“We’ll see. She’s obviously pretty adaptable and her form’s pretty good over any trip, it seems. I wouldn’t discount three miles in time but at Cheltenham it’s obviously two to two and a half miles.”

Does sound as though Mares Chase is preferred. Makes sense as she'd be only placed at best in an Arkle imo. Ground could dictate.

….Only by Night;

She’ll go for the Mares’ Chase. She has to prove her stamina for the trip, but I think she will. Ideally the ground will be on the better side so that the emphasis isn’t so much on stamina. She ran huge at the Cheltenham Festival last year and if we can get her there in the same form, we’ll be delighted

Panic Attack, in the Mares’ Chase, is the other one. Her form at home has been phenomenal. Whatever beats her will win, she’s absolutely flying.”

Skelton sounding quite bullish. She has achieved so much more than the others, and she showed last time that a small field isn't an issue. Hard to believe she is still 5/1. I think she is my best of the meeting so I have had another go.

Yep. She'd be my current Nap of the meeting. I reckon she'll jump them into the ground and then win the National. Going to wait for the WTAGN price.
