2026 Juveniles

Highland Crystal 130p from 119p

Highland Crystal took her unbeaten record over hurdles to three when showing improved form to land the conditions hurdle for juveniles at Naas on Saturday on her first start since impressively winning a listed contest at Newbury in November.

Saturday's race has a notable roll of honour as it was used as a stepping stone on the way to the Cheltenham Festival by four of the last seven winners of the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle. Highland Crystal could be a contender for that Festival contest this time around, as could placed pair Saratoga (122p from 107p) and Munsif (remains 111p) who appeal as types to progress in handicaps.

However, Highland Crystal, who was conceding weight to all her rivals at Naas, would be entitled to a shot at the Triumph Hurdle as only Narciso Has (142p), Minella Study (139p) and the filly Mange Tout (132) are rated higher in the juvenile division after her sex allowance is taken into account.

I'm hoping Majolique gets an entry tomorrow and enters the triumph shake up as a serious contender.
Was my favourite of all the purchases last autumn.
Might be kept for next year but has been left in the triumph after today's scratchings so we'll see.

She's due out soon, 'still dreaming of the Triumph'

Where you hoping she's entered?

winning fair grade 3 Fairyhouse - next monday.
win and go to triumph, or lose and put her away for next year as novice.
40-1ew NRNB if anyone not on is not the worst bet to nothing

Ahh couldn't see the fixture list for that, forgot it was that G3 in there

Whether or not they go G3 first time up, probably not Willies MO? Has he done it before with a horse from the flat?

Burning Victory.
Although she had ran more times on the flat.
It was still her hurdles debut

It seems late to waste her novice status on a maiden

Ahh so is possible - interesting to see the entries for sure

Wonder if Proactif is in there myself

Then could also get few other newcomers for a free hit

Apolon de Charnie
Forty Fifty
etc

Minella Academy too. Ruby mentioned that one without prompting on the PP podcast.

That G3 is an odd one though. Does Willie waste a novice hurdler for a G3? Or is he more likely just to send them to the Triumph? I think the only ones he’ll send are either already maiden winners; or from the flat and therefore now needing to run to get into the Triumph.

Yeah that did prick my ears when he mentioned that one, although was hoping myself they'll leave him off to retain novice status next year to go win the Supreme :devilish:

Ahhh yeah thats a good point re. ones from the flat that need a run to get in the Triumph

Long odds on Majolique could be in there then, Q probably did all that thinking in his head already :ROFLMAO:

Willie has a huge crop of potential novices next year. Minella Academy, Quinteplus, Apolon De Charlie, Forty Fifty, Majolique from the juveniles. Love Sign, Our Trigger, Quiryn, Irish Avatar, Bentraghill and maybe more from bumpers. T
He’ll no doubt unleash some others at Punchestown and purchase more 4yo from France this summer.

His 2026/27 novice hurdler squad looks a lot stronger than this years did at this point last year.

Am I being blind or is this fixture not happening for some reason?

Doesn't show on the HRI race conditions

And neither on the '26 fixture list
