Maybe Cobden will do a Ruby and join Willie from Paul, eventually.
Ruby retired aged 39, Paul Townend is 35. Cobden is 27.

Unfortunately I don’t thinks thems bookies will drift him much bigger than 4/1, even if he loses todayHoping Inothewayurthinking gets stuffed again today to push his GC price out. Betting suggests he will ! Out to 5/1 from 13/8
Wait until after he gets stuffed again at DRFUnfortunately I don’t thinks thems bookies will drift him much bigger than 4/1, even if he loses today
I hope to be proved wrong though!![]()
I think Lecky Watson will be held up out of the back looking to drop down the handicap. Affordable fury couldn't even beat a 12 yo envoi Allen. Can't see beyond the top 3 here even if they
The riding forwards point on F2F is a big one. He's not quite as good as Allaho but Allaho won over 3m when racing from the front still, taking the rest out of their comfort zone and it made the extra furlongs irrelevant as he'd already broken the rest of them and they couldn't bridge the gap. They'd have to do the same with F2F if they try 3m again.….Ruby Walsh on the KG;
The Willie Mullins team are unlikely to look back on the race with much pleasure from a tactical perspective. With Gaelic Warrior they have always opted to ride him with some restraint when stepping up to three miles, even after his stamina for the trip had long been proven. When Il Est Francais clearly wasn’t going much of a gallop, Paul Townend could have changed plan and taken the initiative, but he chose to stay in the box seat taking a strong grip behind the leader and the relative sprint that transpired didn’t play to his strengths.
As speculated might be the case in my aforementioned race preview, perhaps his connections were more so thinking about how they will want to ride him to get the trip in the stronger test of stamina that is the Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival and didn’t want to risk lighting him up here, but one suspects that he could have won this race with a more positive ride.
Likewise, Fact To File was ridden like a doubtful stayer rather than a Brown Advisory Novices' Chase winner. The quieter ride didn’t play to his strengths in jumping terms and he also raced a bit more freely than ideal. Most significantly, it left him out of position when the pace quickened and he didn’t have the same sort of gears as Banbridge to get competitive from there.
Many are likely to use this run as evidence that his best trip is over shorter and a drop in trip for the Ryanair Chase looks very likely, but I wouldn’t judge him too harshly on this performance. The Punchestown Gold Cup could offer him the opportunity to win a big one at this trip if he is ridden more forwardly.
The other one that was heavily involved in the finish was the Nicky Henderson-trained Jango Baie. The youngest horse in the field and racing over three miles for the first time in his life, he emerged from the race with a huge amount of credit. He raced three-wide with no cover for most of the race and steadily worked his way onto the winner’s shoulder on the turn for home. Despite being the one that was stepping up in trip, he was the first of the big guns to come off the bridle and ever-so-slightly messy leaps at the third-last and second-last fences didn’t help.
He rallied just as well as the winner up the run-in to be beaten just ½-length and his connections are very much entitled to look forward to a rematch with those that finished in front of him in the Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.
So, what more can be said? That was a horse race we will all remember for a very long time. It was exactly what the National Hunt season needed and indeed what was needed to remind everyone just what Kempton can deliver.
We’ll see what happens in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown on Sunday, but the staying chase division looks poised to keep delivering blockbusters for the rest of the season.
at 12 lol, imagine thatEnvoi form boost! He couldn't could he? Fuck I would love it!
Don't forget Haiti Coleurs......Wonder what connections of Jango and Jukebox are thinking after watching that?
I hope they are thinking let’s go for it!!
Let's face it, it wasn't as if he wasn't trying, he was just crap on the day. Ground way too quick for him ? Leopardstown speed track compared to Cheltenham. He'll get stuffed again in February giving us all 10/1 about him fora repeat.Have taken the 15/2 for galopin
Perfectly respectable run on reappearance after a slight setback
With no top novices coming through think its a very fair price
Have to say i think the way inothewayurthinkin is campaigned is a disgrace and a very poor look for the sport
I hope he finishes out of the back of the tele in this years race tbh
Cromwell knows exactly what was up. You can’t be risking the extra crunchy carrots four times a year.Cromwell very disappointed with Inothewayurthinking run. Expecting much better than that. Going to get him home and check him out.
