2026 Gold Cup

Shouldn't even really be questioned

The only reason Paul won't be on Galopin is if Galopin is not in the Gold Cup .
Course it should be questioned if the horse is showing us he’s not the same horse
Nowt wrong with voicing our opinions and questioning stuff

Can anyone see a resurgence from galopin in the gold cup ? Or is it as simple as he isn't good enough anymore

Realistically how would you bet it who Paul rides providing both get to the race

Would be no betting

If he's picking on who he thinks is actually the better horse, then he'd be picking gaelic warrior, as he's simply just looking like the better horse these days. There's no excuses for galopin today, was just well beat.

He may elect to go with galopin though for sentimental reasons, and just not wanting to be on something else if galopin were to win. But if he's going off current form, it's gaelic and there's no debate.

To add to my additional plonker based statement above..I just realised I had an old stub in shop for F2F at 12/1 along with my 50s for
Haiti Couleurs before xmas. If fact to file does get supplemented does my AP bet still stand right ?
No, I'll buy it off you for a Tenner though .....😉

When it comes down to it, i think Willie would rather go to the Gold Cup three pronged with Galopin, F2F and Gaelic (all different owners) than try and take a Ryanair into that much consideration. It's the showpiece of the NH season on par with the Grand National. If he was fit and well, i see no reason Il Etait Temps couldn't step into the Ryanair picture. 2 and a half miles is probably his correct trip anyway.
And hopefully jocks up young Patrick on the winner. Last year the National, this year, the GC. The normal, unflappable Mr. Mullins was crying like a baby at Aintree, it was plain to see what it meant for him. That would be some fairytale.

You can have it my old dear friend lobos! As long as i get to keep my 100/1 on spilanes ticket. Nah i have some lucky odds this year, but im an old school and my favourite 3milers were giant bolster and many clouds. I want to actually win on my HC's tickets though - its the romantic in me. I think curtis has what it takes! Just to throw my hat in this one. I think Paul's head should pick GW but i also think him and willie still see one more rodeo in GDC and GW will get re-routed to Ryanair. I

Bang on Rodney

I'm going to throw Panic Attack out there again at 20s NRNB. If Skelton were to switch one.

As much as the others named are better, I don't think they'll go. I've still backed Jukebox Man, Gaelic and Grey Dawning due to the NRNB prices but I'm expecting money back for all.
Like that nrnb

Fav should be GW.
Seems it’s not that simple though.
It's been said above but there's no way that he jumps off Galopin. If you were pricing the market, I'd have the house, wife and kids on the odds against (I don't have a wife or kids but I do have a house).

Why would anyone jump off Galopin? He's been beaten 8L by Gaelic, hardly like he's been running like Cromwell's nag all season ffs

Well he’s not the reigning champ, beat fair and square last year, and now he’s been beaten both races this season .
Well beaten as well.
That’s why.

Beaten fair and square by a horse that won't feature in the finish this year and was (probably) juiced to the gills.

I don't think he'll win a gold cup FWIW but even I wouldn't jump off him in PTs position. Ruby didn't jump off Kauto in a gold cup, they're a loyal bunch are jockeys

Im not saying he will jump off him.
Just imo he should.

If he had an alternate horse to ride that was looking a world beater, I'd get that it's a fair debate. But Gaelic just isn't that is he. On the day, you'd make Gaelic a what 4/1 shot, and Galopin maybe 6/1? I wouldn't switch up and risk missing out on history just to ride Gaelic at those odds.
