2026 County Hurdle

Yeah its just my own personal opinion that I think he could be very good and might actually have loads in hand, probably not in the county though i agree as i dont think he jumps well enough. Although that race probably isn't much of a jumping test with only the one hurdle at the business end so he might get away with it.

I personally wouldn't be surprised if he was rated 160+ by the end of the season, if they can finally get a clear run with him without setbacks, over two and a half to three miles. I remember being on him at punchestown and a slow jump cost him at the last, before staying on again. If he jumped it clean he might have beat kargese i think.
I have similar thoughts about Storm Heart and had already backed him for the Coral Cup. I've now also covered him for the County. Was hoping he would go straight to the Festival as although they might not be trying to win on Saturday, I'm just worried his class may make a win unavoidable.

Aintree Hdle could be on the cards
Yeah I'd say Aintree. They took him out of the Champion Hurdle and will almost certainly need and come on for the run. If he runs a stormer though you just know JP will think about a supplement. Wonder how much he has spent on supplementing horses he didn't need to over the years.

I also wonder what the success rate is for supplemented horses at the festival, JP’s or others…….whether win or otherwise when generating a return

He paid for plenty last year with the gold cup winner

Kawaboomga wasn’t entered to begin with.
I’m hoping he beats them readily tomorrow and JP only has enough spare change for one supplement this year and leaves fact to file alone.
He supplemented Iberico Lord for this the other year when the champion hurdle looked weak.
And he had no chance rated 143
Willie also supplemented Cilaos Emery after winning the red mills in another weak year.

Entries haven’t been made yet, they’re Tue 17th Feb, no supplementary stage after entries for handicaps…
What about the Ryanair?…..as it would be good to know how much longer the ‘will he won’t he’ run conundrum will last

Sorry I assumed you were talking County hurdle.
As Q says G1 races have a supplementary stage at same time as 6 day decs…

6 day entry for graded
OMG…….so we could have another 3 weeks of this ‘will he won’t he’ discussed at length on the review circuit 😱

Interesting though as being 6 days prior, ground conditions may not be part of the decision, rather I suppose the puzzle with other horses plans and also horses well being at the time

Logic dictates then that the decision will be made as a late as possible

Workahead and Farron Glory boosting Karbau's recent run. I hope he doesn't get more than 147/8 in the county.

Ive gone with Joyeuse and hello neighbour in this (joyeuse for the coral also). Thought that run in ascot carrying top weight was really good, in 2 strong races at cheltenham also. Really fancy her with her allowance also, they wanted her to run last year aswell in a hcap but couldnt

Think she is on a few people’s shortlists for those two races - quick point, you mention allowance, won’t get that in a handicap.

Entered for Hendo in the Morebattle so could end up off 140 at festival - obv got to firstly run, and then win, for that to happen.

I feel i would prefer the coral personally to follow Dame de comp path. She won off 140 in the coral actually. So what needs to happen in the morebattle then to make coral/county permutations ?

It’s after the weights are announced - any horse winning a race (post-weights) gets a 5lb penalty. Would apply whether she ran in Coral or County.

As a backer, I think I’d prefer Hendo not to run her and let her race off 135 at Cheltenham. If she runs and doesn’t win she’ll still run off 135 at Chelt, but will be backing up on a short turnaround.

Kelso race is 28/2 so only about 10 days until festival starts. If she does go Morebattle then it might lean Hendo towards the County, give her two extra days to recover.

He’s also got Khrishma in the Morebattle who could run for him. However, she has been declared tomorrow which is her 5th run. Hints that she might then rest for the Festival with Joyeuse going to the Morebattle.

All just my theorising but it makes sense to me.

Henderson said County for Joyeuse on the FF podcast.
