2026 Champion Hurdle

….W Mullins;

‘In what will be a fantastic renewal of the Irish Champion Hurdle Lossiemouth comes here with every chance. She’s in good form at home and if she turns up like that she’d look to be the one they all have to beat.

Tactically the race at Christmas didn’t go Anzadam’s way and I’m not sure about tactics on Sunday yet but we’ll see and with a bit of better luck, he has a chance.

El Fabiolo is an interesting runner here. He really enjoyed himself in Punchestown the last day and the Champion Hurdle has opened up this year. On his best days he’s entitled to have a good chance here.

Poniros is having his first run of the season. He disappointed us on the Flat at Royal Ascot and we gave him a break. It will be interesting to see where he fits in this race and wherever he finishes will give is an indication of where we go in the future.’

Reckon Lossy will be smashed into odds on today before the off. Can see her going off 1/2 or worse.

Dineen saying word is strong for Anzadam today - presume thats from Joe himself

Been given the Denise kiss of death. 6/4 B365 and I think Sky and WH are offering 5/4
6/4 is mahoosive!!!!

Actually, I've noticed Denise has been lucky the last few with her boosts

Pacemaker been withdrawn here. Could be messy... Lossie should probably take it up.

I hope this is right! He doesn't need to win today for him to still be a player in the Champion Hurdle, but HC does need to get him to settle so that we see what he can do.

I thought he could be second favourite come Champion Hurdle time, but if he won today, he'd probably be favourite1

Don't mind that at all. She can wind it up from the front. She's not one with an electric turn of foot and she's comfortable leading.

Doubt Paul will want Lossie at the front too soon after the last day.
Hopefully Mullins tells JJ to go off in front on El Fabiolo.
I assume the plan with Anzadam is to hold him up at the back with the 5 year old.

Yeah, forgot about El Fab. Probably in there as a pace setter anyway. Don't want it to be a crawl as that'll suit Anzadam if he does settle.

To be honest.........I haven't a clue how it'll be run !🤣

Yeah, I think it'll be El Fabiolo that makes it.

It should be a fascinating race and it'll be fastest finger first with the bookies straight afterwards trying to pinch some value for Cheltenham.

Cashdale lad being withdrawn is great news for BDA's champion hurdle chances tbh. Deploy them tactics in March.

Didn't work last year though as they went too quick

No didn't work, but she's not been over raced this year. One huge effort incoming in March followed by a huge flop at Punchestown, or maybe they just leave Punchestown and wrap her up ready for chasing next season.
